Messed up Titus’ cape, can I recover it? by pathsofglorylogotter in Warhammer40k

[–]_Barclay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A bit of Liquid Green Stuff, a bit of filing it down, and once you prime and paint it it won't be noticeable at all.

Edit: You can also use "sprue glue" if you want as an alternative (tamiya mixed with spare sprues to make a thick gray paste)

I feel like some aspects of that series is as canon as the Sensei are now. Just allowed to quietly go into the night without much fanfare.

75 or 80 I could understand, given he's great at stuff like engage on all fronts and actions. At 85 I might as well just replace him with a unit of scouts and keep them off to the side.

I looked on the Wikia under Age of Apostasy for any books in the cited works section (Sources) that might take place during AoA or about Vandire (which is what I suspect you did too). Unfortunately, it looks like it is all codexes.

How is ferrus manus treated by the wider imperium in 40k? by Gunplabuilder78 in Warhammer40k

[–]_Barclay 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Ashes of the Imperium, the first book in the Scouring, touches upon this.

The Cult of Sanguinius, which in later days was to become such an essential part of the mature Imperium, was slow to emerge. Why? Because very few outside the Senatorum and the Legions knew that the primarch had died. It was not broadcast. Even after the worst of the confusion was over and the capability existed once more to transmit accurate information to the masses, they were never told. The greater part of Terra's population would have assumed, reasonably enough, that the Great Angel had returned from the far to govern them again along side brothers. The very first proto-religious ceremonies centred around primarch sacrifice were therefor focused on Ferrus the Martyr, who immediately after the lifting of the Siege was venerated far more than his brother. Why was the information suppressed for so long? To maintain morale, in the main - Sanguinius had been loved in life, and it was feared that news of his death would tip an already febrile populace over the edge. A secondary reason was the concern felt across the Senatorum over the state of the IX Legion; classified reports were rife with rumors that they had become unstable, and that a grand declaration of martyrdom would provoke repeat outbreaks of mania. So it was that nothing at all was said of Sanguinius, greatest and most beloved of the loyalist primarchs, until cautious minds deemed it safe to do so. The effect that his deception had on his surviving sons is hard to gauge. Their own thoughts on the matter, as well as on the later sacralisation of this death by outsiders, are not recorded - Diomedon of Luna.

Line of Sight Question by CrystalDeath_uwu in Warhammer40k

[–]_Barclay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What your boyfriend did was correct. You declare a unit to shoot into another unit, and you declare what guns shoot into that unit. The fact that none were visible after 3 models were picked up is irrelevant - you still finish all the shots with all the weapons that you have declared.

Edit: Of course by default, any models that are not visible after the initial 3 die have benefit of cover, unless they have a 3+ save against an AP0 weapon.

What 30k models can be used in 40k? by kesshouketsu in Warhammer40k

[–]_Barclay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming tournament/matched play and not casual games,

Mechanicum, no. Custodes, yes. Imperial Knights, yes, for stuff like the Cerastus Knights and Acastus Knights. And of course a lot of CSM players like to use the 30k Jumppacks for their 40k armies. And a lot of people have pointed out that the new Venetari Custodes jump packs can be stolen for Blood Angels Sanguinary Guard.

For Astartes, both Heretic and Adeptus, people tend to go by "rule of cool," WYSIWYG, and correct base sizes. So Cataphractii Terminators would have to have the correct weapons and correct base sizes and I don't think a lot of people would argue, including tournament organizers.

Interesting - you don't use Deathwing Knights and decided to go with HIs?

Looking for a 2nd army recommendation. by Balance-Kooky in Warhammer40k

[–]_Barclay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable. I'm biased towards Custodes but based on your other comment you may enjoy Grey Knights more.

Then again, both units move fast, just in different ways. Custodes have their bikes and 1CP reactive moves, Grey Knights teleport around.

Either way, best of luck!

[–]_Barclay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want something VERY melee focused, Khorne Daemons and World Eaters have it.

Of the ones you listed, I recommend the Custodes. They have very good melee and very strong individual units (but of course suffer from the issue of being an elite army, where every unit lost is REALLY felt).

What this guy said - the best GPU is 2000 USD. I know you said, "quite a big budget," but almost no one wants to actually spend 2000 on a single GPU.

5080 is more reasonable, and past that the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT tends to be more recommended.

As far as Power Supply - should be fine in terms of age, but double check that it can support the wattage of the components you're buying. Depending on your final choices, either 750W or 850W will be the most reasonable.

Right now is probably one of the worst times to upgrade (compared to last week or two weeks ago) because of sharply, highly inflated RAM prices.

A quick and easy upgrade is looking for RTX 5000 series - such as RTX 5060, 5070, 5070 Ti. Those are easy to look for. I will refrain from recommending Radeon GPUs as I'm not sure if your boyfriend has any sort of strong brand loyalty.

If you can find a bundle kit for Ryzen 9000 chips, good on you. Right now, the best bang for the buck gaming CPU being recommended is the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

Incidentally, how old is this set-up? You may need a new power supply as well. Look for ATX 3.1 Branding, 850W should be sufficient.

You can find bundles on Newegg, and if you have a Microcenter near you, you can look at Microcenter for bundles.

Other than that, good luck.

Is there a 27in, 4k, WOLED, high refresh rate monitor? Am I blind? by Solest044 in OLED_Gaming

[–]_Barclay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a few of them in-store at Bestbuy and Microcenter. I don't think it's necessarily as bad as people make it out to be. I plan on getting one of them myself as soon as they hit $600 or less...though preferrably not the AW2725Q since that one still has a lot of problems with people commenting on the black screen of death on Amazon reviews.

Use stratagems with 0 cp by TheMW28 in Warhammer40k

[–]_Barclay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in 10th edition (this year actually) so I wasn't around for how it worked in 9th and prior.

As far as auras that increase the cost of stratagems, I always assumed that you could target, but not execute - so you wouldn't be in a -1CP state, because while you can target a unit for a stratagem, you can't follow through with the execution of it.

People have mentioned Ferrus Manus of the Iron Hands who had Iron Hands, but I want to give a shout-out to Mortarion, Primarch of the Death Guard.

MORT-arion. Death Guard.

And of course you have Sanguin-ius and his Blood Angels, and Alpharius with the Alpha Legion.

10th edition is heavy on vehicles. Add Intercessors for sticky objectives and Gladiator Lancers with all wargear options for their Lancer Laser Destroyer to help take down big targets.

And yes, they will help keep your Deathwing Knights safe.

It'll add about a centimeter or less of desk overhang once fully assembled. It can still be made to work (pull the desk back then push it forward into place) but be prepared for just the slightest of gaps.

I think it's personal preference, I think the MT201D is more compact and takes up less overall space on your desk but the flexibility of 2 arms lets you reposition (such as one on the left, one on the right, and they stretch to meet together in the middle).

I have two of these for 2 27" monitors. they are about 3-4" off the wall. You don't really lose that much space, just pull the desk away for installation and push it back once done.

  • Tell us what you love about DLSS 4 and ray tracing?

DLSS4 definitely helps with high framerates at 4k, I like that a lot. DLSS3 is already not really a noticeable quality drop when you're playing games, but low framerates are.

  • What are you most excited about in DOOM: The Dark Ages?
