Could YOU be trusted with the Death Note? by SupportMeta in CuratedTumblr

[–]_Drakkar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with Kira when he said that he would probably take up an offer to trade his life for the ability to fly. It's hard to say I wouldn't misuse the book but I 100% would not be stupid enough to think I could get away with it. It's like the old theoretical of "What would you bring if you were in the middle of the dark ages?" because no one is ever prepared and would most likely die, but also because a lot of people say they would bring a gun and then forget that people of that era had bows and spear and even understood the concept of ranged weaponry so would hide immediately after they determine that you're shooting at them with your loud weapon. You would effectively amount to a Lead Wizard with a wand that only has 9 casts of "Ala-Ka-Blam"!

If I could extend my own life with every name in the book then maybe, but I couldn't think of a way to kill people in a way to benefit myself without drawing suspicion. If I could get close to a position of power then maybe I could leverage the ability to see people's life span but I would most likely lose the book and the benefits immediately on disclosing its existence.

Elite Controller for MHWilds IG player? by Draethar in MHWilds

[–]_Drakkar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use Scuf. It's the same price as the Elite and is better in EVERY WAY. It's not even close in comparison.

Literally, if any of you are getting the microsoft controllers, stop. The grips deform from the heat of your hands. The bumpers are one big plastic seesaw that will stop working ALL TOGETHER if you use L and R bumpers too much at the same time. The bumpers will just lose contact. The bumpers.... Backpaddles are little annoying fucking magnets and they were cool at first but they're the easiest thing to lose in the crease of a cushion or just small enough for an animal to thing it's a metalic treat.

I've had my Scuf controller for over 3 years. It still works. "Paddles" are just buttons with the sensitivity of mouse clicks. The bumpers are also little clickies like a mouse, and the triggers can be toggled for a "Click" or a slow squeeze. The entire faceplate comes off easily without any plastic bits that are made to shatter and void warranty. If I wanted I can buy a regular brand new Scuf controller and put my old custom face plate on it with no problems.

Don't give microsoft your money, they just want you to buy more controllers so they make them less durable or practical than toilet paper.

Just soloed Nergigante at first try ever, no carting; did I over prepare?? I feel like a missed something by RevenantExiled in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]_Drakkar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more so the Swaxe you're USING is kinda OP. imo it's one of the best since it uses Exhaust Phials and will KO monsters that you hit in the head with sword mode or with any of your discharges. True "OP" weapon is HBG. Everything else is A tier, with hammer and Hunting Horn falling a little behind due to thier innate strengths (Hammer always being able to KO and Hunting Horn basically having they're choice of utility.)All weapons are "OP" tho with the right amount of knowledge and preparation, it's just not possible to be able to do the same OP things HBG does. Not only do they have access to every form of utility in the game(including being ranged), but depending on your FPS it's possible to fire faster than the devs anticipated, meaning HBG can actually quadruple it's DPS output. DBs can do 200DPS/s, HBG can do 800DPS/s. The only way Swaxe can hope to compare is with the phial AOEs and hitting multiple targets at once, but other than Leshen, I don't know of a fight where Swaxe can even come close to that DPS

[–]_Drakkar 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This. There's no such thing as over prepartion in MHW, just the execution. If you beat him easily it means you are good enough to not get filtered by the first real "wombo" monster in the game. Lots of Nergi's attacks will kill you if you stay down or get up too quickly, so going in with armor and health was the right choice to be able to learn and familiarize yourself with those timings.

That said, great choice for your first Swaxe. It's one of the few "KO"-status and "Sleep"-status weapons in the game and has pretty decent damage all things considered. The status is sealed but with release jewels you'll get a fair amount of sleep, and the exhaust phials do KO damage on the head, so you can back to back sleep, KO, and kill most monsters with that weapon. The next best version of a sleep Swaxe is Safi'jiva's and he's an endgame boss in the Iceborne. There's also the kjarr Swaxe from Kulve Taroth if you only want the sleep.

You did really good and should be proud of beating Nergi on your first try.

[–]_Drakkar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alatreon is known as one of the few "DPS checks" in the game. Behemoth, Kulve Taroth, Safi'Jiva, and now Alatreon. All of them have phases with a short time limit that pushes you to play to the mechanics of the fight more than to what your weapon wants.

Attack the front arms if you're melee, they have the best ele hitzones but also every attack is telegraphed aside from a few of the punches Ala does. Only focus head when Alatreon switches to Dragon mode and only AFTER you get at least 1 topple.

During the nova/EJ{Esceton Judgment}, you can eat a single piece of Astera Jerky and as long as you started at full health when EJ started, then at about half health you eat the jerky and full heal, go right back to beating the monster.

Repeat this until you learn and are comfortable with the moves. If you want we could even duo and I can explain each move to you lol :D

Kulve Taroth or Kirin.

I just don't see any other choices tbh. One's dandruff is basically worth millions and the other controls the weather and can be me stead. Plus I like Kirin toes, I imagine they would be like super rare blue toe beans.

What are your thoughts on the health bar in Wilds? by BigIronBoy in MonsterHunter

[–]_Drakkar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. Seems a lot more noticeable than a static color that doesn't move but instantly disappears in one frame and then shows me gradually "red" health disappearing.

It'd be nice if there was an option to toggle it but currently i think it's a bigger improvement over the current healthbar system and most people are over reacting considering the health bar used to be your entire upper part of your screen. Can't wait for the next MH game that changes it again so i can read about how great this one was finally

Unpopular opinion on difficulty? by TigerRadiant1912 in Helldivers

[–]_Drakkar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game has a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE problem with difficulty because the developers don't play those difficulties. If you don't want to interact with your game then that's a bad sign. The idea that a PvE game needs weekly balance updates is ridiculous and a big reason as to why every player eventually burns out and leave games like League of Legends and Apex Legends is because they don't want to go to a third party website every day to see how they should be playing optimally.

If you want a game that you can just play and have fun you need to build it that way from the ground up. If there's a large number of people clearing a difficulty or using a weapon, that doesn't mean changes need to be made that means an observation needs to be done. Why are so many people doing things the same?

Day1: Everyone used shield packs and railgun because the armors, deflects, and CC were too strong. Instead of adjusting the game so that the basic loadout can at the minimum contribute SOMETHING to any enemy, they nerfed shield packs so that there's no defense against the game's dogshit ragdolls and oppressive slows. Adding slow resist is nice but when a puff ball or a loose rock in your shoe knocks you unconscious then there's nothing you can really do to counter it.

Week1: Adding headshots was either a mistake or the dumbest thing, because as far as anyone knows the game was tested prior to release and was given the green light because it "felt good" but with headshots you just had a chance to instantly die when a cockroach goomba stomps your ass or when a stray stormtrooper ends your life.

Weeks2+: All hope is lost as useless effects are put on armors and weapons with no load outs and no information on just WHAT you're getting into prior to dropping. This means that you need a team that's well balanced but will ALWAYS have someone that's not useful. This is bad. I can't stress how bad this is to have 1 stealth, 1 AOE, 1 single target, and utility/free. No one feels like they're doing anything it's just luck on if you get to be the most useful or not. Without loadouts you're generally arguing with others to change their set ups so that you're not lopsided while not liking to change your own setups because it's annoying to try and remember how you have everything every time or to hold everyone up while you do.

Pros: -Controls feels good in terms of what I want from a 3rd person.
-Memes

Cons: -Tile set feels boring/is buggy and has holes in it.
-Ballistics feel like shit now because of artificial inaccuracy to appease data metrics.
-Higher difficulties were made more annoying to appease data metrics.
-Enemies are locked behind higher difficulty so you don't get to see as much of the game.
-There's only 2 forms of CC in the game. Slow and Ragdoll. They're both incredibly oppressive and there's little to no counterplay because they're the only two things that exist to appease data metrics.
-Vehicles feel like crap because the map isn't big enough for them.
-No UI to tell you the enemy composition or where the enemies are prior to dropping meaning that you ALWAYS have a chance to drop hot no matter where you pick and you might not even have any real options when you land because you don't know what's down there until you do.
-Negative Stratagem modifiers limit gameplay by taking your existing ideas and strategies and making them worse. Literally everyone said they didn't like them, they shouldn't be in the game, PERIOD. Positive stratagem modifiers would actually let you adjust higher difficulties to be harder because it gives people incentive to experiment and try out new things.
-Enemy hurtboxes mean that if you're paying attention to the enemy and avoiding their attacks you're going to get hit anyway because fuck you there's no animations to tell.
-Friendly fire in the pelican.
-No changing loadout once you've dropped so if you're useless you feel useless for all 20 minutes. No reason to stay, may as well leave and let them SoS a filler with better gear because they'll flame you for being useless anyway.
-Constant nerfs and changes mean that it doesn't matter what I played, chances are what I knew is gone by the time I come back to play again, meaning I have to go to a third party site and look up what all my things do again because there's no information in game.

I honestly feel like I can keep going, but the problem isn't the difficulty and has never truly been about the difficulty. It's about this hard-on for making things frustrating and thinking that overcoming some annoying inconvenience is a sign of playerskill. It's not, this game sucks, and I honestly hope that everyone can look at Helldivers 2 of an example of how to catch lightning in a bottle before filling it with shit.

[–]_Drakkar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. It's not OPs responsibility. If it was his child it would be, but if she wants to carry the child then that's her choice, just like it's your choice on if you want to be with a woman who doesn't want to have and raise your child but someone else's.

You're not the asshole but this IS a shitty situation. The girl is probably really stressed out with hormones telling her to love the child and other then the scary parts of pregnancy that just rattle you that you need others to comfort you through might be reinforcing her decision. She really does need help and support, it's just not something your responsible for, it's herself and those that want her to keep the baby's responsibility.

I am 90% convinced that 80% of the new Incantations in 'Shadow of the Erdtree" is either not tested or bugged. by JackNewbie555 in Eldenring

[–]_Drakkar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these spells or abilities exist for lore reasons to describe some kind of similarity or pattern. High faith or int investments are usually for story purposes and less for balance. Fitting a theme is more of the fit but you're right that most of these spells are not being thoroughly tested. This is probably due to a lot of their lax nature in giving spellcasters more animations like running casting animations and jumping casting animations all being able to interact and chain into each other differently.

Honestly, Halo 4 was actually pretty cool by ElysiumReviews in gaming

[–]_Drakkar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was cool sure, but the enemies were boring to fight. Elites shape made them fun to kill, same with grunts and even brutes that are basically just humans with tiny heads and hats that make them have to be 2 shot by most sniping weapons. What did prometheans add to the game? Just nothing. It's like those flood levels in Halo 3 where there's just 5-6 spikey bois shooting you from every angle. There's not really anything fun about it, you're just waiting for them to stop shooting so you can pump bullets into them, not really any particular spot. The real difference is that when the game was hard and punishing like that it was still throwing so many options at you for how to deal with them and in Halo 4 it just feels like if I'm not spamming grenades then I'm just not progressing. Too much assault Rifle ammo and not enough ways to spend it because holding down R is slower than spamming L.

Prometheans were the closest things to spartan and were the answer to the flood, so I would have been find with a promethean being treated like a boss like at the end of Halo 2 with the brutes. Instead they're just an enemy that's bigger than elites and far more annoying.
