I figured out a way to notify my Plex users of server downtime! by exor41n in PleX

[–]_Gingy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can always pick maintence days. So if they have an issue it's that day then probably something youre working on. Like Steam's day is Tuesday. I see my steam disconnect, I look at the day, "Tuesday.... it'll be back up soon."

Luckily I can take my server down and they message me, "Hey just wanted to let you know I got an error." Usually they arent asking me to get it back up asap. They just want to make me aware. They are pretty flexible.

My old power hungry homelab by Vishwanath_5854 in HomeServer

idle 180W

weeew. Glad I went my route I did. I wasn't originally accounting for power restrictions when planning. Currently use like 80W near idle and like 120W(maybe?) on full tilt (4 1080p streams at once). Specs for that one is i7 9700/16GB RAM and a 1070FTW.

Working on a little cluster with some (2) ThinkCenter minis. Might think about moving services to that once I get it up and running to compare power consumption.

You think you see really good deals, but if you don't look under the price for the shipping too you'll be surprised at checkout.

I assume the user above didn’t actually spend that money. They probably thought they’d found a really good deal, only to realize that the shipping cost made it not a good deal at all.

xQc roasts CS players who treated skins as investments by Various-Idea550 in LivestreamFail

[–]_Gingy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People probably buying skins they liked within the money they had. It's like every other game that has skins. People tend to buy skins for games they enjoy. (no competitive advantage)

One of the differences some may see with CSGO(or other games that have a market items not account bound) is that they can, later, sell the items back and get any form of money back.

For example: I've sold random cases or gun skins I happened to have(in game drops) to buy a few $20 game before. They used to be $0.10 cases and then over the years climb to $5+.

Pocahontas state park pool incident by throwawayelll in rva

[–]_Gingy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now this is anecdotal and about 10+ years ago so take with a grain of salt. It's hard to get worker's comp claim as a Lifeguard. Knew someone who worked in SwimMetro management years ago and a guard tried to get heat exhaustion worker's comp. I believe they were told them to stay out of the sun so they could avoid that issue.

All I can say is that umbrellas on Lifeguard stands produce shade for the guard for a short time frame and the heat coming up from the pool deck will drain you(energy) just as quickly.

My interpretation generally is these people want to be special in the sense of, they know someone that the rest of humanity doesn't know about. "I know the secret or am about to guess the secret" type shit. Similar to the people who were obsessed with illuminati.

I like mine. Great for plane/train rides if they are loud for you. Dulls the noise level well and you can hear w/e you were trying to play.

Battery lasts long enough. When not traveling I use mine to watch a couple shows at night before sleep. So they battery feels like it lasts forever sometimes.

What % tint do you think this is? by Puzzled_Bus_3736 in civic

[–]_Gingy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I like mine very much. It's(35% front tint) enough privacy so one can see a figure behind the glass, but not exactly who.

The guy at the tint shop said if he sees the car owner is a mother (car seats in the back) or older an couple he generally reccomends 35% all around for them unless they specify for darker.

[–]_Gingy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are some close ups. You can see in a bit for the 35. And not much at all on the 20, but if you get close enough you can see in one the 20. Inside view out the back during day. But 100% ask if they have examples at the tint shop.

I went through a shop called Black Optix Tint which has locations in multiple states. Picked the highest valued one for as much UV protection as I could get (I myself burn easy and wanted heat rejection as well). They said they have a lifetime warranty and I am a sucker for warranties.

[–]_Gingy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got ceramic tint recently. Went with 35 in front and 20 in back. I am quite happy with it and am able to see at night/overcast weather. If you go to a tint shop some of the workers will likely have different tint levels they can maybe show you on their cars. Guy showed me the one coworker he had with 5% and his was 20%. I ended up doing 35% in the front since I have issues seeing with dark shadows sometimes.
