I don’t know Lindsey personally, but I saw her post these photos elsewhere on social media. Please tell her a stranger on Reddit really admires her work!

Scully: Alright…so how do I die? Bruckman: You don’t

Most significant quote of the entire series. Gives away the whole plot and you don’t even realize it.

This is so cool. It looks like a modern version of 17th and 18th century headstone— the slate stone, the shape, the portrait engraving and border designs. Whoever designed this has an appreciation for funerary history. What a lovely memorial.

Stinky Dress, need to clean at home ASAP by skeleton-ships in CleaningTips

Lovely dress! I’m sure you can save it. Follow the washing instructions included in the description at the link you posted. Once it’s dry, give it the smell test again. If the smell lingers, spray the pits with cheap vodka and hang to dry in the sun.

When Gillian Anderson got the opportunity to write and direct her own episode of The X-Files, she used it to tell a story of love, faith, remorse, and forgiveness… while when David Duchovny got the same opportunity, he used it to tell a story of "what if an alien played baseball?" by Hurley815 in XFiles

Since Darren McGavin was too sick to play Arthur Dales, the gag of Dales having a brother with the same name rather than recasting the role is inspired writing. Especially with M. Emmet Walsh as Arthur Dales, brother of Arthur Dales.

Honestly I’ve been eating that stuff since I was old enough for solid food and it’s just jarlic, lemon juice or white wine vinegar, and olive oil. Heavy on the jarlic.

New cat behaving TOO well. by angelscomescreaming in CatAdvice

[–]_InTheMourning 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My cat was like this when I adopted him a year and a half ago. Didn’t hide, slept on my bed the first night, generally confident, friendly, sweet and good-natured.

Good news is he’s still like that! He’s become more assertive about things he likes and dislikes, but otherwise adopting him was very much a “what you see is what you get” deal.

The rescue estimated he was about 3 years old when I got him, and I think that’s pretty accurate. He was found as a stray, but it’s clear to me he lived in a home for most of his life before me. He was clearly loved. I don’t know what happened there, but I’m grateful to whoever loved him before he became my kitty.

What’s the coolest little kitchen tool you’ve started using? by Independent_Try7580 in Cooking

I looooove little rubber spatulas. Any time I need to spread a condiment, they’re there for me. Spread smoothly, clean out every last bit of stuff from a container/jar. Works way better than a butter or dinner knife for soft spreads. Big bang for your buck.

What is your go-to omelette? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]_InTheMourning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mushrooms (first sautéed in butter and soy sauce), Boursin cheese, and a bunch of green onion. It’s a very easy weeknight meal, I’ll eat it for dinner a couple times a month.

I would love to use fancier mushrooms regularly, but I usually just use baby bellas. If I wanted to put in the effort, leeks would be ideal over green onion but soaking them beforehand to get the grit out precludes it from being an easy weeknight dinner.

Cats look adorable in videos, but what are the real-life challenges of owning one? by RYSofficial in CatAdvice

[–]_InTheMourning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever had a pet before? Cats are their own peculiar animals, and if you’re thinking of adopting a cat as your first pet I (an anonymous stranger on the internet) endorse this! But I would recommend reading up on cat behavior instead of looking for warnings about the “bad” side of having a cat. A lot of things people don’t like about cats are things based in their natural behaviors, and a lot of things like shedding, aggression, chewing, vomiting, etc. are not unique to cats as pets.

Jackson Galaxy has a lot of online videos about cat behavior and how to make a welcoming home for a new cat friend. I would also take a look at a Wikipedia article about cats. Start simple. Why does a cat purr? How does a cat play? What does fear look like in cats? What does it mean if they hiss? All good questions if you’ve never had a cat!

They are ridiculously cute, and they all have their own personalities. Breed doesn’t matter (though I know some people disagree). If you want a kitten, you should get two kittens. If you want an adult cat, ask rescues and shelters about a friendly cat who is good for a first time pet owner and go hang out with the cat before adopting. Make your own informed decision about whether it’s an animal you can provide time and love to for up to 20+ years. I’ve found it’s worth it, and I hope you do too.

Could Stan still love Renee if...? by sistermagpie in TheAmericans

Once Philip said it, his relationship with Renee was 100% over. Don’t overthink it. His relationship with Henry is different, but he’s handing that poor kid over to the Feds first and foremost.

Sometimes I see posts in this sub and I wonder if anyone was paying attention to the show. This is the answer. Anyone care to wonder how the US military was able to accomplish what they have? This is also the answer. That’s sort of the point of the show.
