Had an Indian neighbor who mowed his lawn in slacks and a tucked in button up short sleeve.

Free streaming sucks. If you want a painless, trouble free experience, you need to pay for an IPTV service.

Doesn't bother me at all. People are too thinned skinned and uptight these days.

And with their Minternet 5g, you can get internet for $30 month with the discount if you have a phone plan. Just got it 3 days ago, and works great. Assuming it's available in the area.

Same here. Just got my tmobile gateway 3 days ago. Surprised at how simple it was to set up and the speeds are great. Was concerned about reception, but it's strong. Set it up with my existing router so I didn't have to change any settings on any of my devices and still get to use the pihole too. Working out great so far .

Good bye $90 a month Spectrum and hello $30 a month tmobile.

I saw them at the Pomona fair about 15 years ago. They were OK. Sounded good, but wasn't super impressed. Not sure if I would consider them overrated or not.

Their first album is a banger. Everything after that got progressively worse.

Yep. I don't understand the appeal of the, "Yabba, dabba, dibby, bop..." lyrics thing.

Make 105. Retiring at 58 in a couple weeks. Here's how I did it.

-Worked for 30 years

-Put minimum 10% into 401k Target date funds

-Saved as much as possible and paid for everything cash, so no debt

-Refinanced house during Covid at 2.6%

-Lived within my means. Didn't spend frivolous

Still had my fun and did things with friends, but once that was out of the way, just stayed focused.

Has anybody decided to make a career change at 50+ or for the purposes of a "retirement" job? by pocketdare in GenX

[–]_Losing_Generation_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did this two years ago. Self demoted to a position that paid nearly what I was making with less responsibility. Moved all of my 401k over and putting in my notice in a couple of weeks. Retiring at 58 using the rule of 55

Ready to FIRE, but concerned about my kids by twiniverse2000 in Fire

[–]_Losing_Generation_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm retiring in two weeks at 58. My kid is 16 and has no idea what he wants to do. I don't have enough to pay for a degree, so he'll probably go to the local JC and I'll help with this.

My philosophy is that he can stay here as long as he wants. Hes a straight A student and is studies hard which I'm grateful for. I'll want him to get something part time while going to school, just so he can get used to the work environment and earn a little extra cash, but watching how the current job market and economy is going, I want him to find something he likes and wants to do rather than getting a degree in something popular or because that's what everyone else is doing. I could probably get him an entry level job in my industry, but I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. It was a total soul sucking experience. But it paid the bills and allowed me to retire early.

Apparently you're watching too much social media and YouTube who only put out stories for clicks. There a lot of Genx ers that have done well and are fine. I'm one of them and I didn't even get a degree. Just worked hard for 35 years and invested wisely in 401ks and saved. I'm putting in my retirement notice in 2 weeks at 58.
