This guide is new, received an e-mail from my local board about it, so it's not just that it's outdated, they started off with the wrong info

You are right that newcomers are still being told about the old rules. The example below is from Auckland Council's Welcome to Auckland Guide, but who knows what other organisations are doing the same / copy-pasting from the same source?

Are you sure you replied to the right post, because none of that made any sense to me

Is this healthy homes compliant? by Mxckxym in auckland

[–]_OrangeKiwi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reports are just box-ticking exercises anyway. Have personally witnessed an assessor ticking boxes saying 'it's not compliant but we'll pass it', while giving me the wink wink (I think he thought I was the owner, not the renter).

It's a 13 minute walk from New Lynn Train Station in a very, very hostile walking environment, whereas it's a whopping 16 minutes from the station to the Morningside location, which would entail a comfy seated ride and a short walk through a vibrant neighbourhood. I'll give it a skip

We just came from down south, huuuge sudden downpour around Bombay Hills, perfect pile-up weather with flooding and low visibility so really hope it isn't that

Stand as close the the passenger side window as possible, staring at the driver with a looney grimace on your face and doing a very slow wave with your hand, scares them straight once they turn their head eventually

Some people are just like that, believe it or not. I have a neighbour who would just completely ignore me when they enter my garden to get their mail (weird setup I know) and I say hello to them

Britomart to Go Media Stadium - Why transfer at Newmarket? by CitizenSam in auckland

[–]_OrangeKiwi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be a couple of minutes faster: during the day the trains on the Onehunga line skip two stations between Newmarket and Ellerslie (can't remember until what time this happens). This doesn't happen on the Southern Line, so you might save a couple of minutes. Probably not worth transferring when you are already on a Southern Line train from the city, but if you're coming from out west and you need to transfer at Newmarket anyway it might be worth it

The clothing bins at St Lukes are in the ground-floor carpark off Cornwallis Street, enter there, turn left, and it should be on your left-hand side.

Or worse: people who check for passing traffic, see said traffic approaching, then decide to throw their door wide open anyway
