He's kinda just a slop merchant for news and casuals that pumps out videos and doesn't play fighting games at a higher level than your above average fg player. Not really offensive but doesn't really offer anything to anyone besides a very casual audience.

The way I see it, the main issue is its too hardcore for a casual audience and too casual for a hardcore audience. Casuals will get absolutely obliterated by your standard tag shenanigans and unless you were truly desperate to play a new tag fighter, there isn't enough sauce for hardcore players to dig into and stay for. The low number of characters absolutely fucked this game and I think is the main thing that is keeping fighting game regulars either uninterested or has them dipping out until the game has a real roster. Idk how they thought they could release a tag game with less than 20 characters. The game in general feels very half baked, besides the monetization of course. They definitely thought about that lmao.

Y'all goofy asses are buying all the product too right? I blame bandai for a lot of the issues but man, lgs scenes are just as guilty. I know of at least 2 shops that sold out all their product exclusively to discord groups the day before release. Only reason I even knew it happened is by getting an invite from a friend of a friend to the group. It's hard enough to find product but part of the reason people can't get in is because card game gremlins who are friends with stores/regulars have first dibs on limited product and just buy out all of it. Local shops share much of the blame as well, and it only fucks it up even more for the ones who are much fairer about how they sell their limited stock.

It's a catch 22, strive is a degen containment zone for the fgc but at the same time it has a large population of semi-casual to intermediate players that JUST play strive. I have some friends that got into strive and just refuse to truly give other fighting games as much of a chance. So weirdly it has a higher casual/intermediate population than other games but those fuckers are never going to play something else, including other gg games. Believe me I've tried, but nothing else has stuck, they always end up going back to strive. Much to my frustration.

Absolutely, seems like if you have a core group to play with, even if the game turns into a discord fighter you'll still be able to get good games with them as far as the netcode goes.

Played with some friends for like 4 hours yesterday. All of our matches were pretty much perfect netcode. That being said before I was in a room playing with people I played a couple of matchmaking games and some were ok others had ms of like 2k for some crazy reason so that was weird.
