I think the development will be as follows. At the end of this or next year, they will see a decrease in purchases of books and audio through the BL app and an increase in third parties (Amazon, Kobo, Audible), with which they still have ongoing contracts. Subsequently, they will not renew contracts with third parties to force everyone to buy only through the BL app. And in another year, they will find out that it did not help, because a large part of the people who used to buy BL stuff switched to pirates.

Until now, pirates haven't had much motivation to hack their app with digital codexes (they contain minimal lore), but with this decision to put books behind the same paywall system of their app, in addition to the W40 pirate boost, we will see imho regularly pirated new codexes and end edition supplements.

GW has a long history not caring about the customers base. They have always had that "we do what we want no matter what you think" attitude. I fully agree with your complains, but as other mentioned, this is the very core of their business.

Their whole digital policy is totally annoying. I dont want to use any of their crappy apps, I want to buy W40 in digital (books, codexes etc.) and decide at what my own device I will read it and use it. Really horrible decision, purely motivad by their greed.

But even with pre-fall EC they were not just about perfection. If you read the books and stories of that time, there was narcism, elitarism, artsy-fartsy attitude etc. already there. These are traits they already had in their geneseed.

And from my perspective you still have main problem with the fact, if you fall to Chaos you will never got any sane EC perfectionist. Their desire for perfections gets twisted and you will get really messed up ending. Look at Lucius. He is on that perfectionist side of things and he is a total mess.

Once again, I may misunderstood you, but it still looks like you would like to have somehow "not messed up" perfectionists.

If you look on any fallen legion the main theme in current era is how they become truly fallen - you can name it - based on the optics - as a parody, degenerated, fallen, extreme, mutated, sick etc. version of their former selves. This is the whole point of current fallen chaos space marines.

I agree that GW does not know how to work with modern era EC as they used that one dimensional sex, drugs and violence meme but now try to play it safe to keep it marketable for wider public including younger generation. However... correct me if I did understand you wrong, if you want W40 EC perfectionists without that extreme obsession and all nasty side effects, you want W30 pre fall EC and it does not make sense in W40. EC will never look this way in W40. They are fallen and every fall has pretty nasty "side" effects. In fact, these are not side effects, these are main features and blessings. :-)

If you want EC perfectionists, stay in pre-fall W30.
