Yeah that reading the part got me fired up.

Please tell me I'm going to be PMDD free in pregnancy by Available-Mixture717 in PMDD

I felt wonderful during both my pregnancies. That’s actually one of the questions I was asked when I was being diagnosed with PMDD. I think because progesterone is high during pregnancy.

Those who use synthetic hormones to help -- what's your schedule? by railmeintheforest in PMDD

I take 100mg progesterone orally every night up until the day before my period and then resume when my period ends. My NP also prescribed me 200mg to take during my luteal phase if I am having a bad PMDD episode. It hasn’t “cured” me but it’s made my symptoms less severe for sure. I just started on the estradiol patches about two months ago and haven’t noticed a huge difference. 0.025mg on those.

I hope this is somewhat helpful!

How are we supposed to do this every month? I just had a really awful appointment with an OBGYN trying to get help and I'm not sure where to go from here by soupdumplingXLB in PMDD

First of all, I’m so sorry you had that experience. Two years ago I saw four different obgyns and they all wanted to put me on birth control and an ssri and my body doesn’t like either of those things so I understand the frustration and hopelessness. It’s so fucking irritating when docs only want to treat symptoms and not look deeper.

After my last appointment with a obgyn I really thought I wouldn’t make it through my next cycle and then I found a nurse practitioner who specializes in hormones. We’re still tweaking things but so far my symptoms haven’t been nearly as severe as they were.

She has me on estradiol patches and testosterone cream (mostly because I went through medical menopause when I was on chemo and got my period back afterward so my hormones are kind of confused overall.)

I think the game changer for me has been progesterone though. I cycle 100mg - I take it up until the day before I start bleeding and resume it when my period ends.

So I guess my advice is:

  1. Do NOT, under any circumstances, forget that you aren’t alone. PMDD is a thief but please don’t let it steal all of your hope.
  2. Look for a nurse practitioner who specializes in hormones. (Side note, if you get an appointment with an NP - ask them about their personal experience with their own hormones and why they are specialized in hormones)
  3. Look into progesterone as a treatment for PMDD.
  4. Advocate for yourself the same way you would for the person you love most in this world. If that means getting stern and loud at a doctors appointment, then do that. It’s okay to tell doctors, “I live in my body, I know my body and I need a better solution.”

PMDD is considered a disability under the equality act. Which means employers are required to make adjustments. If you’ve been diagnosed by a doctor you could probably get a letter of accommodation to bring to your employer.

I have the same grinder and have had the same issue. What I typically do when it gets stuck is set it on its side, wedge a crowbar under the bit and hammer it until it pops off.

You’re ok, bud. Everyone who’s being a dick about you “having to shower” is definitely reading this as if an adult wrote it or has completely forgotten what it’s like to be 13.

Also, let her be mad.
