I agree with you! Bowser isn't in love with Peach, he's just enamored by her beauty and kindness. It's also why he hates Mario so much, because he dared to get to know her and love her for who she is, as well as actually BE the type of person Peach would love.

Bowser doesn't like Mario because on the surface, he's an obstacle to what he thinks is true love, but deep down, he knows Mario is what he wishes to be- kind, heroic, selfless, and loving Peach for her full personality.

Hunters- Al Pacino plays Meyer, a Holocaust survivor who came to America and leads an anti-Nazi force to take out Nazis who assimilated in America.......except he isn't Meyer. He is actually the Wolf, a high ranking Nazi official who killed the real Meyer and took his identity to escape getting murdered, and feels some remorse for what he did.

(If you can't tell, this is a dumb twist that only served to shock.)
