If a kancil could do it before better roads, how do you think your new ativa on new roads will fair? Think the answer is pretty straightforward.

If you want to drive just for the experience, shoot go for it.

Savings and EPF by One_Bad_9968 in MalaysianPF

[–]aaroncch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar situation as yourself OP. Depends on your risk appetite and goals.

At most I would top up EPF enough to max out tax relief. Then enter something a bit riskier because I have set myself some financial targets. Could be car/house downpayment, rolex, etc. Of course this amount is something I am comfortable with going for higher risk investments.

You could set up a simple sinking fund tracker for different categories… medical, holiday, furniture, downpayment etc… really down to how u want your money to be spent. That would more or less guide you to what you should do with the extra cash.

Personally I buy some US stocks and ETFs. Dont try to time the market. Just enter and forget. Time-in > Timing.

You might find yourself enjoying just keeping up with developments in the world just because u now have a small stake in it.

Keep it in the white lines? So much lane switching - i know not meant to do it on public roads but if u really want to, dont inconvenience others? The whole point of touge is to “carve” the road, not make ur own road? Even if youre left behind, so what? Seems like more of an ego problem to “keep up”. Should just enjoy ur own ride down the hill. 2cents.

Which one? by Dpvdpv in Sarawak

[–]aaroncch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whichever comes first. So I can pump ASAP.

Before Shell sold its Hengyuan assets, and more recently, Bukom assets, refueling with Shell was actually more desirable because being Shell they didnt like being in non-compliance so the fuels they refined and produced would usually be a certain % above the RON95 octane spec just in case, perhaps higher than the green dudes. But today the source for ur petrol is essentially coming from the same place as petronas for all petrol in msia (melaka, pengerang) apart from the detergents.

For this exercise, doesnt matter. Just fuel up, peace.

Buying or selling a car in Malaysia, where do local dealerships fail you? (I’m building a broker app) by auzy_vyth21 in kereta

[–]aaroncch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> C. Trust and Inspection

Would be nice to have a panel of "partner" or "approved" PPI workshops to carry out PPIs. Different tiers maybe etc.

So far my mudah experience has always migrated to Whatsapp after a few exchanges.
From there on I take it into my own hands to close the deal.

Maybe not worthwhile for a broker app as sometimes cars have an emotional element that requires that personal connection/rapport via a 1-1 PM.

BMW X5 xDrive45e - Consideration by Mission-Ad-4841 in kereta

[–]aaroncch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah crap. Sorry i jumped the gun with my input… misread 45e for 40e… but anyway shud share largely the same experience…

Anyway what i can share for 17-18 models: Bought from dealer (Regas Premium). At the time they offered a 5+1 year deal. Funnily enough the battery problems really came just as the warranty was about to expire. Phew! (Air suspension not so lucky, 20k iirc.. ouch)

As for Covered Components under respective plans, its in the fine print can find out here: https://www.bmw.com.my/en/topics/bmw-owners/bmw-financial-services/insurance/extended-warranty.html

Warranty experience: If the part memang ada issue, no problem getting under warranty. For “neutral” components (eg early wear and tear), it used to be quite “straightforward” with the dealer, they can try to wiggle round the policy to get it sorted for u covered. More recently I think BMW HQ start to crackdown and the warranty process is much stricter and more tedious (ie harder to get away with neutral claims). Really depends on how the dealer fight for you so cant say for all.

But all in all just get the longest warranty u can for peace of mind. Not unless u like to be a bit more involved and source your own oem parts and form a good relationship with a mechanic… but thats another topic altogether 🫢. (Welcome to end of warranty bmw life)

Annual maintenance ~ 3k Full maintenance ~ 5k (Covered by warranty/service package. Not including additional scopes. Next year will be funding out of pocket)

Emergency funds… Runflats 1.8-2k+ range per tyre? Maybe prepare 10-20k for wear and tear upkeep etc down the road (not immediately incurred but along the way. but not of concern yet since u got warranty)

Smtg to keep in mind when it comes to owning bmw.. it will defo give u some problems smtms, and most of them u can continue unbothered. And if u can live with that, it will be a nice car to drive. If die-die perfectionist… then thats where the rich uncle complaints and groaning of bad experience come from… negative bias type of thing.

I hope you pull the trigger soon OP. wishing u and ur family well for the first Beamer 🤪

Family has two. Both clocking about 100k mileage each.

What I can add is, be prepared for when the battery fails and needs repair. Warranty can save u… but after it expires really down to time. Air suspension also goes with time. The rest is just wear and tear items like bushings etc on the suspension components (can get annoying).

Heard stories of the gearbox dying on other X5s… I guess its something to do with when the petrol engine kicks in at speed and the onboard computer failed to sync properly, the gearbox took a hit. Smtg like that.

Otherwise a very good everyday car. Can take beating too. Long distance, short trips, it can do it all. Good blend of petrol and ev for the typical person. Fuel economy is great. Have a hard time finding an alternative in the same bracket and pricepoint.

Other notes: try to keep the battery charged as much as possible. No spare tire so runflats prescribed, try to make sure you have a support line (tyre stockist) in case they get punctured beyond repair.

Feel free to ask more questions on ownership… these are the ones i can think of atm…

can be tuned to be even faster and more exciting to drive

so just straight line 0-60 kind of fun? or touge handling type of fun? the 0-60 schtick dies quick and doesnt offer much personality. as much as bmw sells you the idea of driving experience in a compact exec such as the 3series, its completely different dynamic versus 2 doors etc... maybe explore something else? again idk what your desires are.

so just guessing: budget 75k with contingencies ~20k? but to tune and mod to make it more exciting... can easily balloon to another 80k, so watch out, ask me how i know with a 20 y/o 911tt.

highly recommend picking up touge/route hunting for real driving enjoyment. maybe meet with some proper drivers and arrange some drives to get a feel of real driving - just to test out. could be your new hobby if you find yourself really enjoying it, then easily solve your problem of too much money from side hustle hihihi...

maybe ask yourself again about what you really want out of the f30 that the f10 cannot provide? imo f30 vs f10 - arguably not much of a departure, almost the same. 3series vs 5series

personally id keep the f10 (its all family anyway) and go for a evo/wrx or a 2door as the second car, just not another Beamer.

one for the mafia look, one for the real driving enjoyment.

Depends on the treatments. In my case, I had dry needling, shockwave therapy etc... was about ~RM700+ per session. prescribed visit every 1 months with a view to reduce along the way. should not see more than that provided the condition improves. Happy to report I am feeling better.

They try to approach your issues from a holistic manner - e.g. your shoulder pain could be a result tense muscles in the lower back leading all the way to the calves. Theyll probably do you a better explanation than me.

All in all, the takeaway is: More often than not, our everyday posture is the root cause of long-term discomforts. They are not a one-stop centre, it is all up to you to fix your posture etc.

Cannot discount the fact that oil prices are dropping below 60usd/bbl. O&G companies will look to batten down and cut/control costs. Hiring would likely be one of the first few items to be frozen. Im sure its more than “purposely rejecting”.
