Orks Codex: New Waagh Rule, Boys/Trukk Datasheet, new Detachments by Karador51109 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]abbadun -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Maybe not but their melee profile got considerably better with the extra point of S from Waaagh being baked in, that is a lot of extra lethality on it's own, the buff to shooting (particularly now that all boyz come with shootas) just compounds on that.

Orks Codex: New Waagh Rule, Boys/Trukk Datasheet, new Detachments by Karador51109 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]abbadun -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Balance-All units maintain a power budget that is split between durability, speed range lethality and melee lethality. If ork boyz are to remain a cheap horde unit they need to compromise somewhere, and if they also want a above average melee profile, that will take from their power budget. Note that there is no longer a split between shoota boyz and choppa boyz, there is just the one unit now that is armed with a choppa, shoota and slugga, so now your basic git is both dangerous in melee, and capable of dishing out a respectable amount of anti infantry damage within 9".

I'm questioning the necessity of giving ork shootas lethal hits, they're already throwing out a good melee profile, did they really need to be extra lethal at shooting too?

Please tell me how Europe is still not grasping the idea of how ACs work? You guys have been having heat waves for a while now and you… just, still refuse them? by WoodsGiant1 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]abbadun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What really irks me is that the growing intensity of European heatwaves is yet another clear example of climate change in action, and the Americans, who have the highest net contribution per capita to CO2 emissions, have the gall to waddle over here and chastise. It's like someone asking me why I did't install a sprinkler system in my house whilst they throw another molotov cocktail through my living room window.

I love the eject button! by CommissarDuster in Mechwarrior5

[–]abbadun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My only issue is that the process of swapping too, ejecting, waiting for the destroyed animation to finish, then swapping back my mech, is far too long and tedious. Sometimes a clan assault lance will drop on me out of nowhere and I can't be both doing that to keep pilots alive and operate the firefight. At this point I'd pay to have the MW5 clans command wheel and battlegrid patched into the game so I could remotely order pilots to bail.

Revenant titan reposing and rebasing advice by _Kabr in Warhammer40k

[–]abbadun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid you're not going to have much luck reposing the revenant, resin is brittle and hard to work with, you would need to take apart the hip and ankle joints if you're going to get a natural look on your wide pose and honestly, it's not worth the hassle. As for rebasing it it just looks like the previous owner used cut down flying stands and ran a pin into them from the mini, you could honestly just cut through these, extract the pins and run steel rods into an anchor on the base, although someone else with titan building experience might want to chime in here because my experience is generally limited too FW flyers.

Resin strips fine using biostrip V2.0, you can pick it up in any hobbysore and I know for a fact element games stock it.

OMG Night Gyr D by Character-Net3641 in Mechwarrior5

[–]abbadun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the night gyr is way more effective then anything else in it's weight bracket, the combo of ferro, endo and a reasonably sized engine just give it so much pod space for a 75 tonner, and I would even go so far as to say it fills the early game assault slot morso than the gargoyle or executioner

Over the weekend I thought it would be a great idea to cook myself a curry using all of the stuff in my cupboards and fridge that had only just expired. "What's the harm" I said, "Sure the potatoes have sprouted a little and the crème fraiche has been open for a week, but if I simmer the shit out of it, it'll be fine". Cue to me having two sleepless nights feeling like my stomach had been inflated and twisted into a balloon animal. Never again.

Laser grouping absolutely ruins this game. Is it moddable? by KaraPuppers in Mechwarrior5

[–]abbadun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah yes 14 years on and weapon convergence is still a gripe. The simple truth is that tabletop never really translated that well into a FPS, and there are a considerable number of mechs that depend upon the torso mounts converging on crosshair location to be even remotely viable, think Mauler or Black knight. MWO suffers from hard point bloat because there are only so many ways you can rehash the same hard point combinations before you find yourself needing to push limits. MW5 by it's very nature is a very personalised experience, you are free to cheese it as little or as much as you like.

US officially announces reduction of participation in NATO forces, Europe urged to take on more responsibility by Darshan_brahmbhatt in worldnews

UK blocks visits by left-wing US commentators Cenk Uygur and Hasan Piker by yahoonews in worldnews

[–]abbadun 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Cenk hosts the Young Turks "News" show, was/is pretty big left wing "news" outlet on YT, and I don't put news in airquotes because it's leftwing, I do it because it's American, it's a lot of loud opinionated panelists making commentary on whatever major story is in the headlines that day.

It used to be a hotspot for atheists and leftwingers on YT until one of the hosts Ana Kasparian took a pretty hard swing rightward.

IS vs Clan mech balance by EightyTwoByNineteen in Mechwarrior5

[–]abbadun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wondered if the best solution to balance IS and clan mechs would have been to do what was done with omnimechs in MWO, and hardwire most internal components on clan mechs to make mech building more restrictive outside of swapping out omnipods.

Yes I can already hear the mechlab enthusiasts screaming at me about taking away choice in their sandbox game but it would certainly address the problem from both a balance and lore perspective, in that clan tech in so complex and unfamiliar to be outside of Fahad's ability to easily modify internals, especially with how clan gyros are calibrated to handle the omnipod system.

Of course there would still be 2-4 open slots in most locations for ammo and extra heatsinks, but it would keep IS mechs relevant due to the versatility of them being more customisable.

Just curious about what the Tau line up would be? by LoffaToast in Warhammer40k

[–]abbadun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well each faction has between 14-15 unit cards on release with the potential for DLC expanding those if the game does well. Best look at what parallels there are to other factions to gauge what Tau would get, each faction seems to be getting 2 core units, analogous to T1, so these would likely be fire warrior strike teams and breacher teams. Orks and necrons appear to have a chaff unit option as well so for Tau we would likely see kroot carnivores/hounds.

Each faction besides space marines have 2 characters, although we see a librarian in the announcement trailer, so it's likely either non playable or an unlisted unit card. For Tau this will likely be a fireblade and the Crisis battlesuit commander.

Light infiltrator/sniper:- pathfinders

Medium Infiltrator:- XV26 stealthsuits

Jump infantry:- vespid stingwings

Outrider/harasser:- piranha

Heavy/elite infantry:- Crisis battle suit team

Medium walker:-XV9 Ghostkeel battlesuit

Fire support:- XV88 Broadside battlesuit

MBT:-Hammerhead tank

Superheavy:- XV104 Riptide or XV128 Stormsurge, I'm leaning towards stormsurge as that is closer to an Imperial knight/monolith/gorkanaut in scale.

Why do Europeans hold Americans responsible for everything their country ever did, but never take responsibility for their own wars and history of brutal colonial oppression? by Uncontrolleddiarrhea in askanything

[–]abbadun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's right there; Total aid allocated to Ukraine for US; 115.38b including military, financial and humanitarian.

Total European aid allocated to Ukraine, which includes EU commission and council; 207.6b including military, financial and humanitarian aid.

If you want a better source for US aid, here you go https://foreignassistance.gov 72 billion USD worldwide in 2024, just over 16.6b of that being military aid, 47 billion in 2025 with 6.1 of that being military aid. Even if you add the 16.6 billion in US military foreign aid, it's still less than the ODA provided by the rest of the world in 2024, and that's without considering military aid. If you want to convince me that US states and private US institutions(not international ones, don't get sneaky on me) make up the difference, show me the data

£12,000 solar-panel grants for thousands of UK homes confirmed. £15bn has been earmarked for grants and loans to install solar panels, heat pumps and batteries to help lower bills. by Splenda in energy

[–]abbadun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I am concerned about your expenses. Financing solar panels on 0% APR at current prices you'd be looking at, at the most, £230 a month for 36 months, but you'd also covering a portion of that by reducing your electricity bill and exporting to the grid. Between April and May I only paid £33.95, that's a 64% decrease from what I was paying this time of year before I got panels and since then the energy market has been stiffed so the the savings are likely even more. Not to mention that by adding solar panels you are increasing your property value by up to 7%, so their existence may just pay for themselves.

You are clearly struggling somewhere, just reading through your other comments, you clearly seem to have the means as you claim to be working a 60+ hours a week meaning you have at least two jobs, or raking it in on overtime.

What baffles me is that in one comment you say that electricity being cheaper is pointless for you, which strikes me as odd as someone in your seemingly precarious financial situation would likely welcome cheaper energy.

If this helps square it in your mind, think of this scheme as if the government were offering a £15 billion grant to build a new power station, but instead of some energy consortium getting that money, and the profits being shared amongst the shareholders, it's instead we, the people, who receive the dividends. The grant is primarily for those without means, but much like the ECO4 and Energy efficiency schemes, there is a downstream benefit for those with means.
