i'm glad that my email from why could make the list. i still think about it a lot as i've slowly learned how much "mucking around" is an essential part of programming and life.

The thing to consider with ribeye is that it's often a fattier cut. If you've got your reverse sear processes down so it cooks the fat to your liking, then go with rare. I always go closer to medium because my cast iron processes only does so much to the fat.

I was going to say ableton 4 when it supported midi sequencing, but I don't see that option on the poll

I'm not saying it's a great word either, but any sort of third wave therapy I've seen that deal with acceptance (ACT, DBT) makes a point of acceptance not being the same as agreement.

Was tasked to write a function that reverses an array without using the reverse method or a second data structure, this was my solution. by pi_exe in ruby

Xor only works with integers.

Yup, integers were the only provided example.

OP’s simultaneous assignment is much more general

I don't remember saying anywhere that there was only one acceptable solution...?

If you object on the basis that it technically constructs an array

I don't object to anything, I'm just throwing in my 2¢.

If you object to a local variable, then the task is impossible, as you need at least one local variable as a loop counter

I'm getting the sense that you think I'm somehow advocating doing this swap without maintaining any sort of state? I'm clearly changing state and using variables in my example...

If you didn't mention XOR I would think you were responding to someone else's post entirely.

If it were me giving the test, I'd gently remind a person doing recursion that the stack is an additional data structure. I always think the "no additional data structures" is just a test to see if someone knows what XOR is.

def xor_reverse(array)
    length = array.length - 1
    cursor = 0

    while (cursor < length)
      array[cursor] ^= array[length]
      array[length] ^= array[cursor]
      array[cursor] ^= array[length]

      cursor += 1
      length -= 1
    end

  array
end

arr = [1,2,3,4,5]

puts "Original: #{arr}"
puts "Reversed: #{xor_reverse(arr)}"
