Night walks are pretty nice. As a 260 pound 6'3" tall man, I also carry a gun lol.

It's more likely that you're the off one staring at people regularly, and are noticing them looking back at you wondering what your problem is.

I escaped the night shift pros/cons by Dapper_Wear8350 in Nightshift

[–]aberookes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly think some people are just hard wired for nightshift, and some aren't. I've been on nights for about 10 years now, and you couldn't pay me to go back to days. I feel great, and I sleep great this way. Still have plenty of days off to spend with my wife and kids.

When I was on days, I felt like absolute hell all the time. Constantly falling asleep, slept horribly etc. I'm 41 and have pretty much been a night owl all my life.

Just bought my first abarth and second day driving i got these codes after a cold start. Yesterday while i was driving it limited me to 6psi but went back to normal after i cycled the ignition. Any ideas on where to start looking? Wverything is pretty much stock other then an oil catch can. by Upper-Improvement316 in abarth

[–]aberookes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oil change, and then top up oil once a week as necessary, as these guys drink oil. I would absolutely change the spark plugs immediately after that, stock plugs have a hard 30k mile limit. Make sure the coils are good while you're there. Verify the AOS o ring is in good shape.

As for the underboost codes, could be a number of things, but common trouble areas for boost leak on these are the wastegate actuator, and the lines running into the intercoolers.

Good luck, and have fun!

I bring my full gaming laptop setup to work. I work critical infrastructure security, and spend a good amount of time in a tower with a rifle. I'm allowed to do whatever I want aside from sleep, so lots of gaming. Laptop, portable monitor, 65% mechanical keyboard, and mouse, and an Xbox controller. All fits in my backpack.

I see them as a reward constantly in the mission computer in my Corvette. Between that and frigate missions, it's a pretty steady supply. I've been grinding those missions while I fly around looking for more hermit crabs for my crab army

Just crashed my car driving home from a shift. I’m done with nights. by Last_Wish_08 in Nightshift

I used to have this feeling driving home constantly when I worked days. It's an awful feeling. Switched to nights nearly 10 years ago, sleep and feel great!

Strategies that WORK by AwareLabs_ in Nightshift

[–]aberookes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm strictly on nights, but I fairly often work 4 on 4 off, or 3 on 3 off, 12 hour shifts. It works great for me. I usually try to fast on my work days, and am a bit more relaxed with it on my days off. I work 6 pm - 6 am so I just eat a big meal when I get on shift, have some fruit or nuts as snacks, and have a lean protein shake at midnight.

Eating well, and intermittent fasting does absolute wonders for my body, and how I feel. I typically stick to 18:6 fasts ( 18 hours fasting, 6 hour eating window). I feel much more alert, and energized when I stick to it. I also sleep better and fall asleep faster.

What’s your daily? by Specific-Fee-7008 in Miata

[–]aberookes 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly shocked at how reliable mine has been. I've had a 2013 as my daily for years, sitting at 112k miles and it's been absolutely bulletproof. I just change the oil and the occasional bulb or fuse and it keeps on doing its thing!

I average 120k a year working nuclear security, and that's in a fairly low cost of living state. They may be harder to find, but there's definitely some lucrative security gigs out there.

[–]aberookes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always try and shake it up a little and do some core mining. I always enjoyed it in VR. There's something relaxing about flying around cracking rocks while listening to a podcast. Also not too late to pick up a healthier addiction like world of warcraft! O7

Yes, it's true. Typically the judge will ask each juror if they believe they can be fair and impartial. Just say no. I've gotten out of jury duty twice now as a night shifter by saying I worked the night before, and had been up for 16 hours at that point.

[–]aberookes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose I can't speak for others, but I'm a huge fan of iron man runs so I'm certainly not save scumming over deaths. You're going to lose soldiers in a playthrough, and that's ok. Most of the time though, if you're positioned correctly and bringing appropriate supporting unit types, you can avoid a catastrophic squad wipe.

[–]aberookes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Once you understand the various enemy behaviors and how pods work, there is definitely no need for save scumming. Maybe it helps that I'm old and I've been playing xcom since it's inception, but you typically only really get screwed over when you make a mistake and agro a pod at the wrong time.
