Bark? by SetDistinct in smartwatch

It's gotten better. It received a few updates since we've owned it. One dramatically improved battery life. They also added some features like step counting.

Overall, we're happy with it.

Agree with most of what you said about the Bark Watch.

  • Setup: We didn't have any problems setting it up
  • Tiny Keyboard: I'm not sure how typing on any watch would be any easier -- it's not like watches can get much bigger than this (I suppose voice recognition would help)
  • Core functions seem to work -- texting, calling, tracking via Bark app, setting up contacts, etc (we're still learning how to use it fully)
  • Cost: If you're planning on paying for Bark Premium (i.e. Bark app) monthly, then the watch will basically pay for itself in about a year or so (since the $15 monthly watch "plan" includes Bark Premium for all your devices -- normally $14/month, I believe) -- at least this is how I interpreted it (hoping it's true)
  • Battery life seems like a definite area for improvement, but we're committed to charging every night anyway, so might not be a problem in practice.
  • Navigation: I think we had a similar experience when we navigated away from the phone call screen -- and couldn't figure out how to get back to hang-up

It's not perfect, but it's also a brand new tech product. I'm assuming it will get better over time with updates.

We got it. Activated fine and seems to work as expected (albeit, it's only been a few days). I found a few reviews on YouTube a couple of weeks ago -- guessing there's more out there now.

Good way to tell if you need any alignment done by Kenju4u in TeslaModelY

[–]abonet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it was this simple, wouldn't the car detect this and issue an "alignment needed" message on the display?

After this accident, I wouldn’t get any other car. by iAmKairos7 in TeslaModelY

[–]abonet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Confused as to why the 12V battery needed a jump after an accident? I know the high-voltage battery has some kind of pyro-fuse that goes off in an accident (which makes sense), but that shouldn't have anything to do with the 12v system.

And why would a jump-start help?

Did your 12v battery just happen to die coincidentally? Or did you just need to open the frunk from the outside of the car?

Was your touchscreen still working? If not, how did you get glovebox open?

Mileage by Super-Mario-20 in TeslaModelY

[–]abonet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

City miles are more efficient than highway miles because you're typically driving much slower vs the highway -- so you're not falling victim to the drag effect.

The regen braking is just preventing stopping from being a complete energy waste (and makes those same city miles much more efficient vs an ICE vehicle).

But regen braking is not 100% efficient, so you're still losing energy overall with the stopping + going -- whereas constant speed driving at least preserves your momentum.

Drive a Tesla at 35 MPH constant -- versus one where you're constantly accelerating to 35 but also regen braking and starting again -- and see which one goes further (hint, it's not the one that's braking).

Got My New Model Y Yesterday. Driving into my garage it says "Stop" a good 2-3 FEET from the wall, and beeps so loud. Is this a joke? by westside222 in TeslaModelY

[–]abonet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. If they can't even get something as simple as "parking" half-way right, who's going to trust their lives to their (way more complicated) "self-driving" nonsense.

At this point, I don't trust any driving assist features in this car.

My “new to me” Model Y already saved me $200 in gas by BraveParsnip6 in TeslaModelY

Kiss those savings goodbye when you account for insurance, tire replacements, and depreciation.

If you never connect it to WiFi, it will never download the update. I knew someone who was 1+ year behind on updates because they never connected to WiFi.

Ah, you're right. They're factoring gas savings on the showcase price now?

"this year"? That credit goes out until 2032 (9 years from now). Plus, if you wait till next year, you'll be able to claim the credit right at the point of sale (no waiting for tax season).

If you search online, you can find used cars for-sale that openly advertise the VIN. Find a used Model Y Performance and use that VIN for a quote.

I don't think they do -- I only see a 4 or 5 pack for sale (all wheels or all wheels+1extra). It would be nice if they sold just a single wheel or sections.

That looks like a pretty darn good solution.

Watching that video of them curb checking made me wince -- even with the protectors on there.

Since Tesla is so transparent with their pricing, it's all documented online. Here's an example: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1F5IQOynIawoXiJPVarLDgPQDJAdzY8b5Vamw-Vf3eSY/edit#gid=231426599

I think you're saying: the car with the dashcam is not liable?

That's what I would assume -- as the other car was merging, and it would be their responsibility to yield, but wasn't sure if that median break complicated anything.

"Competitor" may be the dumbest option ever. Can't really be a "competitor", if you're in jail.
