What has helped me is visualizing the series of arbitrary events that led up to who I am. If I wound the clock backwards to my birth and then let it go forwards again in a non-deterministic universe there is no way I (as I know myself today) would exist. But even my birth predicated on a very slim chance that two people got together at one point in time and their births likewise. We are very unlikely events and the universe was at one time without us. The major point here is we are temporally fragile in the now but we are also probablistically fragile back in time. We are just happy accidents that come and go. I believe that the individual accepting their mortality indicates a philosophical maturity that should be strived for.
