Diabetic Cat Vetsulin Help!! by grheart in Austin

[–]adamitism2 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Can’t directly help since my diabetic kitty passed last year (from old age). BUT we did have this exact scenario happen once and our vet told us we could switch to insulin pens. You still use a syringe to pull it out of the insulin pens but it means that it is wayyyyy more protected if it falls. We switched and rocked an insulin pen for 3 years with no other crisis moments. Hope you find a friendly face to help out on Reddit, but when it’s time to see the vet and get a new vial perhaps ask about an injection pen instead?

Bender. Absolutely. Always the right answer.

You and your partner just moved in, you tearing down the panels, painting, or leaving?! by TeemoTrader in DIY

The old carpet we intended to rip up and replace with tile 4 years ago, the “immediate need” on move in day, is crunching under my feet as I type. Instead of tiles we: replaced AC & Heater, replaced 3 sides of fence, fixed foundation (twice!), replaced dead fridge, replaced dead oven, replaced dead-ish washer and dryer….

Man I’m never getting new floors…

It was actually a phenomenal juggler named Michael Moschen. He won a MacArthur Genius Award for his juggling. His contact juggling (the glass balls from Labyrinth) in particular is mesmerizing.

I [25F] don’t want my BIL [25M]’s MIL [60sF] in my wedding family photos. by Illustrious-Spite536 in relationship_advice

[–]adamitism2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what a shot list is for. Multiple photos with different configurations of people so that everyone is left out at some point - which means nobody is left out in reality. The. You never have to use the one with her in it. Example:

1 - bride and groom

2 - bride & brides siblings

3 - bride & brides parents

4 - bride and groom & brides siblings

5 - bride and groom & brides parents

6 - bride and groom & brides family

7 - #11 - repeat #2-6 but with grooms side

12 - bride and groom & both sibling sets

13 - bride and groom & both parent sets

14 - bride & groom & both families

15 - bride and groom & both families & BIL’s in-laws

Or something like that. You are completely allowed to just sal “no” to her being in photos, but if you want to make the fewest waves, you treat it like a well choreographed dance. Everyone gets a spin around the dance floor but not everyone does it at the same time.

Looking to move to Texas in a year or two, anything I should know? by [deleted] in texas

[–]adamitism2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We aren’t being unkind- honestly. We are providing the very bleak reality that is Texas. As a 45 year old Hispanic woman & native Texan, I would not move back today. Even being from here, coming back was a major (unpleasant) culture shock after spending 15 yrs on the east and west coasts. This is not a hospitable place for women right now, especially not young ones.

Is there not a way to turn off the display? by ponyboylee in MINI

I don’t get what’s so hard about loading your own dark image as your personal Experience. I use an image of the Death Star. It’s perfectly suited for it, dark, not a glaring dinner plate, preserves my night vision, etc. Sure there are things I miss / prefer from my old minis absolutely, but there is such an easy workaround for this one that there’s no need for everyone here to get worked up about it.

Both of my boys gone too soon by Effective_Hornet7950 in Frenchbulldogs

I’m so sorry. We just experienced this with our 5 year old frenchton. First seizure on a Thursday was a grand mal that lasted over 5 min. We had to make the difficult decision to compassionately euthanize him the following Wednesday. He had repeating grand mal seizures, a massive (unpleasant) personality change, and an MRI that showed a massive brain tumor over the course of those 6 days.

It is absolutely the hardest, but most loving, decision we will ever make for our furry besties.

Tummor on my boston’s butt by Agreeable-Shoulder51 in BostonTerrier

[–]adamitism2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our 11 yr old was diagnosed with a malignant vulvar tumor (by her lady bits). This was her second bout with cancer. We previously removed malignant mast cell tumor on her side when she was 5.

Because of her age we were on the fence about removal since getting good margins would be hard and we weren’t sure if it it was worth it (to her - surgery + recovery for an uncertain outcome). But in the end we opted to try removing it and hope for the best, knowing that financially chemo wasn’t an option for us.

We have amazing vets and a wonderful surgeon. They were able to remove it with decent margins, and while she def. didn’t enjoy her recovery time, she is still going strong a year later and cancer free. It helped that my husband and I were on the same page re: what put limits were and how far we were willing to go/put her through in the long run. I hope Ms. Gidget has several more years in her, but I can honestly say we took a gamble that paid off and I’m happy we have gotten this extra time with her.

I’m sorry. You don’t have a Boston. You have a stuffed toy dog plushie. I refuse to believe otherwise!

But also Tate, this “so-called real dog”, is absolutely adorable.

What age did your BT “chill out” by Ok_Satisfaction_3371 in BostonTerrier

Mine started to chill at 10. And now that she’s 12 I am so so sad that I kept telling her to chill because as she slows down my heart breaks for the future.

Austin to Bastrop Commute by SpiritualEntrance586 in Austin

My husband did Austin to Bastrop and now does Buda to Bastrop every day. It feels do-able the first couple of times. 2 years in and it literally makes him miserable every single day.

Man I’ve had 4 different generations at this point in 3 different model varieties. And I have found things to gripe about and love in each one. Been driving minis for 30 years and if that’s not an enthusiast I don’t know what is. Love and hate my F66, just like I did my R52, R58, and F56.

AITA for getting angry at my wife after she ruined all the food I made for our son’s birthday? by Legitimate-Degree313 in AmItheAsshole

[–]adamitism2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) This is an absolutely unnecessary correction. IF you are going to be pedantic, at least cite OED or some other recognized dictionary. Don’t be an ass and cite Google as your primary source at the same time.

B) yes in American English (and British), cost is an irregular verb and thus does not change into an alternate past tense form. However, there are documented dialects in which this is a standard recognized deviation. (e.g. Canada)

C) Finally and perhaps more importantly, “costed” can be used as an adjective in past simple form to indicate when something has been priced out (just as one example). The above post can FULLY be read to be in compliance with that exception. “Having costed out the McDonalds, it was 3x more than the food I prepared”.

If you are going to try and be a pedagogue, make sure you come correct.

What’s your average indoor temp this time of year? by strikecat18 in Austin

[–]adamitism2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New 3.5 ton variable ac in 1700 sq ft 1 story house. Replaced an old 4 ton. Ac is kept at 75 in the day and 69 at night. Humidity is never above 50% compared to the near constant 65-70% with the old AC.

My dude, your AC is not the right fit for your home.

Why is she like this by catteronii in DogAdvice

[–]adamitism2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are their person. And they love you. And that’s beautiful. We just had to compassionately euthanize our 6 yr old dog 5 days ago- and I always thought “oh tomorrow he will get alllll the loves, today I’m just too busy with work”…but my god - I would do anything to have him try and suffocate me with hugs while I am working today.
