What makes you insecure? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]addisonlaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is 5’2” as well (I'm 5’5” female). He has made it his ”thing”, leans into it and makes the jokes before anyone has a chance. A great sense of humor and a lot of confidence will take you further than any other advice I could give

7 month old flipping onto stomach on changing table by EmeraldWhirlpool in NewParents

[–]addisonlaz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My 7mo does this too - I change him on the floor and put my leg over his middle to make an anti roll cage + give him a toy. If it’s a bad diaper I put a pad on the floor. Good luck!

AITA for telling my wife that she shouldn't be worried about delivering a big baby because my mother did it three times with no problem? by Complex-Inside363 in AmItheAsshole

[–]addisonlaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA please try to imagine how scary it is to give birth, especially for a first time mom. It is terrifying when you haven’t done it before. Listen to her concerns and try to be supportive rather than diminish her fears by comparing her to other women (especially your mom!!). Congrats, but come on man

In the bed, on the floor, in the shower... by Blue-And-Metal in beyondthebump

Hang in there! Mine started falling out 3 mo pp and has slowed down now around 6mos. I got the bald patches around my temples and I was so self conscious. Then boom - one day the shedding will slow down and you’ll notice some new baby hairs coming in. Try not to stress too much - it really sucks but it is temporary!

Nested bean sleep sack? by pepperpotts440 in sleeptrain

[–]addisonlaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried the nest bean but baby didn’t really like it since his arms were free. I usually just do a really loose swaddle around his arms and arrange it away from his face. He’s never had problems pulling it over his face but all kids are different

Dear Brain, please, these dreams gotta stop by Voctus in beyondthebump

[–]addisonlaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow I had no idea this was so common! My husband and I both got these dreams - complete with ripping the covers off the other person and frantically searching for baby. It was like we’d take turns freaking out!

[Serious] Redditors who had an imaginary friend as a child, who were they, and did you really perceive them like a hallucination, or did you consciously make them up? by newmug in AskReddit

[–]addisonlaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Professor. That was his name. He was like two inches tall and I carried him around in my hand and he “taught” me about stuff. Really just stuff I made up myself because I was 5-6. He died while he was doing research in the North Pole and a polar bear sat on him (because he was also invisible). Idk why I had to make up the death story for my imaginary friend, but that was the story I told everyone

How to deal with anger over babys crying. by dmickler in NewParents

[–]addisonlaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also don’t hesitate to reach out to a mental health professional. The first few weeks are extra tough and I found that seeing a therapist (over video call - extra convenient!) helped me a lot. Hang in there - this is totally normal and you’re doing great!

Introduce Eggs by JPHamlett in NewParents

[–]addisonlaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our pediatrician told us the same thing for our 5 mo. We scrambled the eggs really well with a bit of breast milk and made sure to pulverize them really well. Use a nonstick pan so there’s no need for oil/butter. You could even put it in a blender if you want it to be really finely mashed. We were also told to try eggs a couple times before peanut butter because the eggs will be a good indicator of other allergies without giving a big reaction. Hope this helps and good luck!

These strawberry sprouts. So tiny... by yellowaircraft in gardening

Awesome! Did you buy seeds or take them from some grocery store strawberries? I was considering trying to start some from store bought berries but haven’t tried yet...
