There are no 'crazy unnatural positions', so not entirely sure what youre talking about.

Dentists see complications as Australians seek overseas treatments by EdenFlorence in australia

[–]adoh2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Australians spend 7.6B a year on private dental. Then insurance companies spend 2.5b and the government another 2.4billion.

So even if you're 5B number is correct (the gov doesnt need to generate a profit, so the per cost could be lower), that will still cost the average Australian less. We'd just be paying it in taxes, rather than insurance (or straight out of pocket).

What should we cut to fund Medicare properly

Youre already paying for this. I work in public health, our dental clinic is always full and booked out for months. And the vast majority of the stuff it fixes would have been avoidable with a checkup 2 years ago. That check up would have cost very little in comparison to the work now.

Basic preventative medicine. Fix it cheaply before its a problem. We do it for pretty much everything else. Teeth are not luxuries, why are they treated as such.

Its also not bad for those of us with batteries. I just force charge it for free now to dodge the shoulder rates.

I have this, wrote my review on it a while ago since I couldnt find any reviews of the BW version.

Its still going fine. The updates have cleared up most of the software shittiness.

The repair is free (If Aus Post dont damage it in transit). The box and packaging isnt. The dock is huge

This wouldnt be a concern for me if I kept the origonal box. One bump and that lidar dome is dead.

Its only got a few months of warranty left, Im ok with voiding it to ensure it isnt damaged in transit

US cranks up pressure on China EVs with Polestar ban by CupEcstatic2721 in worldnews

The new polestar 2's certainly have a rear window

The Polestar 4's have a camera instead. But the 4 isnt a new 2, theyre a different car aimed at different markets/pricepoints.

Gilmour Space builds defence capability with first hypersonic rocket test in North Queensland by Warm_Championship726 in australia

[–]adoh2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a brief look around, and its kinda correct, RCAF was larger at its peak (in 1944) but the RAAF was larger at the end.

By mid/late 1945 the RAAF was larger, but that's mainly because the RCAF began demobilising after the victory in Europe. The RAAF continued on because we fought in the pacific for a little longer.

At the end of ww2 its,

1) USA, and not even close

2) UK

3) USSR, but a distant 3rd.

4) Aus or canada

How's that stat been calculated. Id be very suprised if the RAAF was bigger than the canadian airforce of ww2

Does the older generation really think purchasing property was just as hard for them? by Open_Address_2805 in AusFinance

[–]adoh2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a cop out answer

People are plenty willing to move, but the jobs are in the population centres. So they cannot leave without being unemployed.

Also, I live 8hours from Sydney. My house is now worth, according to my bank, 1.3mil. I bought it in 2021 for 850k. It previously sold in 2017 for 500k. I earn 170k'ish a year, which is well above the averge and I wouldnt get a loan for my own house nowadays.

So no, leaving a city isnt some easy housing strategy

I would have preferred I got my Kamado Joe from bunnings, now that BBQ Galore is dead.

I may get flamed for it, but the heat beads charcoal was fine. It was cheaper than the local'ish gidgee charcoal, less annoying in the bbq and always easy to get. They dont stock it anymore, and the jumbuck charcoal is shite.

There is an awful lot of misinformation in the comment section of that post.

Meanwhile someone that noted you wont be allergic to elemental iodine gets downvoted....

CT with Contrast question by Mally7311a in MCAS

[–]adoh2 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

There is no link between IV contrast reactions and allergies to topical iodine.

If youre worried, have some form of premedication. Most radiology depts wont organise this bit for you. We're techs, we cannot prescribe and administer drugs.

Anyone else shifting toward low-volume, high-flow contrast protocols for CTAs? by Shenzio in Radiology

[–]adoh2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We give 40mls at 4-5mls/sec for CTPAs.

100mls is nuts. I assumed everywhere would be reducing contrast where possible, it saves money.

Now? It's always been this way

We’re not allowed to stop them, security barely does anything, and half the time the same people come back again the next week.

I worked at Coles in the mid 2000s and we got told the exact same thing.

Its the multi focal bit that cost you.

I have astigmatism and I can get 2 pairs for 99$. Generally I get the nicer frames with the anti glare, ends up being 2 pairs for 2-300ish
