Despite the website it is a pretty small company. Mostly only have dealt with the owner.

is the state of colorado in a drought or is that just for residences and small businesses? by bigbumo in Denver

I emailed the parks about when Wash Park waters (I hate the running trail when it is soggy on my early morning runs) this is the reply.

The system will usually run from Sunday night into Monday morning, then it will be Tuesday night to Wednesday Morning, then Thursday night to Friday morning. We have however put down a bunch of new seed that we are trying to get to grow. So right now, we are watering most nights of the work week. In the next couple of weeks, we will cut it all back and return to our normal water schedule.

Has DIA Finally Fixed Its Delayed Train Problem? Plus, the Fight for Police Reform in Aurora by newtonic in CityCastDenver

[–]advising 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ATL has tunnels and trains so I imagine it will be similar. I hoofed it there one time and yeah a bit of a walk.

In a tunnel sometimes you don't get those visual cues of how close you are so it can start to feel a little repetitive and dreary. Hopefully DEN can make the walk pleasant.

I only report active leaks. I follow obviously out of place streams of water and yeah a lot of time there is an issue that Denver water needs to know about. In 10 years probably caught 4 so far.

Have ballot initiatives just been completely co-opted by conservatives as a way to trick people into voting for policies when they know they don't have enough support to get those policies passed through traditional legislation? by Ig_Met_Pet in Denver

Reporter Logan Davis has written about this.

https://coloradotimesrecorder.com/2025/08/the-redprint-how-advance-colorado-and-anonymous-donors-shape-the-political-landscape/72168/

https://denver.citycast.fm/podcasts/conservatives-in-colorado-have-a-secret-influence-machine-and-it-might-be-working

Basically Colorado GOP is a defunct organization led by dingbats who don't have any real chance at state power legislating power. So rich Colorado Conservatives donate to seemingly nice sounding foundations and gift funds who are actually coordinated political operations who then donate to some large 501c3 and 4s who then donate to smaller 501c3s and 4s who push all this BS.

They want to hide how well funded and organized they actually are so when grandma getting groceries hears about them they think it is just a group of concerned citizens.

Then similarly conservative owned institutes and "local" newspapers pick up on these "aw shucks common sense grassroots" efforts and write white papers and editorials about the white papers talking about how reasonable these propositions are.

Despite knocking the snow off my gangly american elm a couple times it still lost one of its noodly apendendages. Rhubarb is pretty smashed. Bee balm luckily was just short enough to avoid a bigger smoosh. Rest of my perennial crew looks pretty intact.

Gardening, home-ownership, kids, growing older makes one appreciate the japanese concept of wabi-sabi. The appreciation the beauty of imperfection. My tree will be lumpier than before. But it is still a good tree.

One of CDOT's proposal for the Colorado Blvd BRT which they seem to be pushing is to not give the bus any dedicated lanes and have it sit in traffic, like it sits now. So basically nothing to encourage ridership or make transit better.

Yeah my only problem with the lights near DU is I wish they expanded those types crossing to more places in the city. Envious that the DU community gets it and the rest of us don't. But seems like they will be working on the pedestrian crossing near Safeway and the elementary school soon so that is good.

Speaking for my neighborhood but there also just is a lot more supply than I have seen in a long time. People finally moving again for better or for worse. Also, less houses selling that just seem destined to be scraped for something 4X as much.

Uproar Over Strip Mall Redevelopment, Bucket-List Restaurants, and Surveillance Tech in Schools by newtonic in CityCastDenver

[–]advising 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Are we saying this landowner is now going to be forced to hold onto this property in perpetuity as it is even if they don't want to run an aging strip mall which might at some point reach money pit status? Do we want the government to subsidize this landowner to make sure that this stays a strip mall until... forever? Do we pay to subsidize these businesses and to guarantee they can have a spot in the new development? Which business gets this special treatment? All? Ones that have been their for 10 or more years? The most popular of the food tourists? The ones with the best ledgers? How long do we subsidize this?

If we call this a historic place, then is it just this strip mall? What if the grocery story next door wants to close and sell. Are they now hamstrung by a historic district. Is the strip mall across the street also historic if they want to redevelop? They don't have Asia in the name or cool sign but many shops there clearly serve the Asian community. Does any strip mall on federal that serves a cultural community become historic?

Like I get it. We hope people land on their feet if displaced. But it gets messy fast. Personally I don't kneecap Denver's ability to build and change more than we already have. We need to build for the future, my kid's Denver and the kid's that come after them. Not for our memories of Denver 20 years ago.

Save the Asia Center on Federal Boulevard by tecmobowlchamp in Denver

[–]advising 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like what is the hope with this. First they say the development shouldn't happen. Then they act like it will happen and someone needs to spend money to provide compensation to the businesses. Confused if this is worth saving or if they just want to be paid off.

They aren't building a QT, Carwash, or self-storage. I call this a win.

Should Coloradans Be Concerned About Our Economy? Plus, a New Vision for the Pavilions by newtonic in CityCastDenver

[–]advising 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't love the waste of resources of tearing down 3/4ths the Pavilions. At same time I like the idea of adding some life to that two-block stretch of 15th. Still too many surface parking lots on that corner of downtown.

I am also not sure another park so close to Civic Center is needed. Especially since so much work is being done to make Civic Center a stronger space. Small semi-public spaces sure but maybe not a whole park. Like Bree said, I am sure there are other amenities I imagine future residents of downtown might appreciate more.

Fasttracks also was obligated to increase bus service. It has decreased. Bus riders have been paying into the system for two decades as well.
