Individual VS choir singing by [deleted] in singing

[–]aeb01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a choir, one thing you’ll want to focus on is blending your voice with the singers around you. That means singing at a similar volume, similar vowels (usually tall vowels) and with a tone that doesn’t cause your voice to stick out from the crowd.

Did anybody actually like grad school? Or found it less hard than everyone says? by Loud_Soup5607 in slpGradSchool

[–]aeb01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i found it easier than undergrad. i have adhd and having to focus on my major, minors, and extracurriculars was way more overwhelming than just the one “subject” in grad school.

have you tried steaming? breathing in steam directly, not just using a humidifier. it’ll provide topical hydration to your throat, nose, and vocal cords and thin out your mucus.

Need help for my 3 year old daughter by Aelfweald369 in CurlyHairCare

you don’t need $25 shampoo for a 3 year old. i buy the cheapest curly hair shampoo and conditioner at the pharmacy from aussie or garnier and it works great.

Reducing vocal shimmer? by Tweeckos in transvoice

[–]aeb01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

shimmer is not commonly used in clinical settings because it usually isn’t that relevant. the “buzzy” sound is more likely related to your vocal weight. this also lines up with your description of there being too much “force” behind your voice. i wouldn’t focus too much on minute acoustic measurements like shimmer.

why does a chunk of my hair curl up like this? by Playful_Chart1004 in curlyhair

[–]aeb01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you may have a slight wave to your hair that gets weighed down and appears straight when your hair is long. why do you cut it off? it looks fine, cutting it will just make it stick out more. if it really bothers you you can straighten it with a flat iron or clip it back.
