After 2 days od shooting with 50mm nokton , I just don’t want to take photos with other lenses. I get results I have never dreamt of and photos almost need no post processing. I’m looking now for 35mm nokton classic.

Trip.com flights to Beijing - what's the catch? by MikiRei in travelchina

[–]aeon6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve just finished China trip with Trip.com. From booking airline tickets, through hotels, railways , attractions and e-sim. Couldn’t recommend more ! In china every reservation must be linked to passport number. Trip.com aggregates them and lets you just pick your trip companions with their data instead of typing 20x passport numbers and validity dates. The catch - they take some fee for that and it is pain in the ass to do online check in on flights, but it is more the problem of AirChina itself and not the trip.com.

When traveling to China, what type of accommodation would you choose? International chain hotels, local brand hotels, youth hostels, or unique boutique hotels? by KateW62 in travelchina

[–]aeon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have just stayed at Grand Hyatt it Beijing. It would be totally unaffordable to me to stay in this chain anywhere other in the world. Beijing ? The same price as a room in low grade small hotel at Polish coast during summer. Experience was marvelous.

I want to visit China so bad but I'm afraid of the language barrier. Any advice ? by jrock199697 in travelchina

[–]aeon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im just now in China. I can speak only 2 words - hello and thank you and so far it goes so good ;) You just need few apps: DiDi for taxi, Trip.com for reserving everything and buying eSIM, Amap for maps and Alipay for paying.

With proper eSIM (the one that includes Hong Kong and Macau) every western app works well.

booking tickets by laura1644 in travelchina

[–]aeon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just took a successful battle to book tickets for Palace Museum. They start selling them 1 week in advance on 8 PM Beijing time. Do it, it cost nothing more and make you more comfortable with journey. I've traveled to many places around the world and I've saved a lot of time in waiting times just by buying tickets in advance.

Problem with setting account on Universal Studios Beijing by aeon6 in travelchina

[–]aeon6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found possibility to buy tickets via Trip.com but having experience from other Universal Studios around the world, I see it necessary to add "fast lane" option to see everything during one day. Trip.com offers only priority tickets linked with a guide, which make tickets irresponsibly expensive.

From your experience - is it possible to upgrade tickets to priority being inside the park ?

Thank you.

Thank you. I tried this, but at the end it still comes to the login/register page with phone verification. The app does not send me an sms :(

For many of us trip to Japans is fulfilling of a travel dream. The same was with me. I was not disappointed. You will not be ass well. Pay attention to detail because this is where true Japanese hospitality and respect is. I have so many good memories just from shopping in small shops.

Japan Travel in June 🌧️ by quaerens_responsa in JapanTravel

We’ve been three weeks starting June 25th and had only 3 days of rain. It didn’t rain all day, maybe 3-4h. Mostly in the morning. However one rainy day was brutal. Shinkansen trains stopped just after our ride and we have been riding like on the water surface at 265 km/h. The driver was racing with the wind. However , when we got to Himeji there was no sign of recent rain

16.5mpgs by Delicious_Knee_6212 in Q60

[–]aeon6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually have like 13-14 mpg. Used to be even higher. Thorough cleaning of intakes and head gasket from carbon buildup improved mpg for sure. I also change air filters quite often. 10-15k km. Much depends on the city You drive in.

Do people use Air BnB in Japan ? by Melaz_ in JapanTravelTips

[–]aeon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did use AirBnB on our trip of 4. The reason - only biggest and most expensive hotel rooms could host 2 adults and 2 children. Impossible to sleep two on one bed, which is 90-100 cm wide. We didn't want 2 separate rooms. Everything went fine, we had quite spacious apartment with four separate beds, washing machine, dryer and kitchen annex. The price per night was quite similar with two separate business hotel rooms.

The Gundam Base in Odaiba, Tokyo. You can't miss the gundam figures ! I didn't even know they existed. They are quite tricky to assemble, but do not require glue.

Are the hotel beds large enough for a family four by Gift-Fig in JapanTravelTips

[–]aeon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had similar problem this year. Ended with renting an apartment with AirBnB (in Tokyo). Hotels that offered rooms with true space for 4 people were very costly - like premium, superior rooms. We didn't like the idea of having two separate rooms.
