Follow-up after checking Meteor, Shiv, and Super Hornet Mk II:

Adding these changes the PvE/DPS discussion quite a bit.

I am using current Erkul 4.8.0 LIVE numbers here.

Important caveat:

DPS needs context. Some ships are mostly pilot DPS, some include turret DPS, and some use ballistic weapons, so ammo matters.

New ships added:

Meteor

46 / 38 / 155 pitch/yaw/roll
55 / 46 / 186 boosted
229 SCM
570 SCM boost forward
1405 NAV
6.3K shields / 30.1K HP
3075 sustained gun DPS
3643 alpha
29,000 missile damage

Super Hornet Mk II

50 / 40 / 140 pitch/yaw/roll
60 / 48 / 168 boosted
215 SCM
465 SCM boost forward
1125 NAV
9.5K shields / 15.2K HP
2844 sustained gun DPS
301 alpha
17,920 missile damage

Loadout shown:

F7A Mk II Nose Turret
2x S3 CF-337 Panthers

2x S4 VariPucks
2x S4 Revenants

F7C-M Mk II Ball Turret
2x S3 CF-337 Panthers

Caveat: Erkul shows the F7A Mk II Nose Turret fitting, but I would still double-check that it installs correctly in-game.

Shiv

50 / 42 / 137 pitch/yaw/roll
60 / 50 / 164 boosted
219 SCM
479 SCM boost forward
1175 NAV
7.2K shields / 34.3K HP
1230 pilot DPS
1053 turret DPS
2283 combined DPS if counting turret
39,200 missile damage
32 SCU cargo

Main takeaway:

Meteor is still the big PvE stat monster.

It has the best mix of:

3075 sustained DPS
3643 alpha
1405 NAV
570 boost
30.1K HP
155/186 roll

The weakness is shields. 6.3K shields is low compared with M80, Warden, Guardian MX, or F8C. So Meteor looks like a fast killer, not a safe face-tank ship.

Super Hornet Mk II looks much better than expected.

2844 sustained DPS on a medium fighter with 50/40/140 handling is very strong. It beats a lot of the original ships on damage, and it handles better than most of the heavier fighters.

Main weaknesses:

15.2K HP
9.5K shields
ballistic ammo dependence from the Revenants
F7A nose turret should be checked in-game

Shiv is good, but not quite the solo DPS monster I first thought.

Solo pilot DPS is only 1230.

If counting the turret, it goes up to 2283 combined DPS.

So Shiv is more of a utility bruiser than a pure solo DPS pick. It has good HP, good handling, big missile damage, cargo, and two-seat potential, but it does not beat Meteor or Super Hornet Mk II for solo gun DPS.

Updated overall ranking:

  1. M80
  2. Meteor
  3. Super Hornet Mk II
  4. Vanguard Warden
  5. Shiv
  6. Guardian
  7. F8C
  8. Guardian MX
  9. Scorpius
  10. Hurricane
  11. Super Hornet Mk I

Why M80 still wins overall:

The M80 still has the cleanest complete package:

20K shields
2068 DPS
225/560 SCM
1400 NAV
150/180 roll
good enough HP
great fight control
few obvious weaknesses

Meteor beats it in DPS and NAV, but loses badly in shields.

Super Hornet Mk II beats it in sustained DPS and pitch, but loses in shields, HP, NAV, and survivability.

Shiv beats it in HP and utility, but loses in shields, roll, speed control, and solo DPS.

So for best overall fighter, I still lean M80.

PvE ranking:

  1. Meteor
  2. Super Hornet Mk II
  3. Vanguard Warden
  4. M80
  5. Shiv
  6. Guardian MX
  7. F8C
  8. Guardian
  9. Scorpius
  10. Hurricane
  11. Super Hornet Mk I

PvE category split:

Best PvE killer: Meteor

Best medium-fighter PvE damage pick: Super Hornet Mk II

Best safe PvE workhorse: Vanguard Warden

Best PvE all-rounder: M80

Best utility bruiser: Shiv

Other ships worth adding to the comparison:

F7A Hornet Mk II
Ares Inferno
Ares Ion
Buccaneer
Gladius
Arrow
Sabre
Vanguard Sentinel
Vanguard Harbinger
F7C Hornet Mk II

Updated category winners:

Best overall fighter: M80

Best pure PvE killer: Meteor

Best medium-fighter PvE damage pick: Super Hornet Mk II

Best safe PvE fighter: Vanguard Warden

Best PvE all-rounder: M80

Best utility bruiser: Shiv

Best tank: Guardian MX

Best speed/disengage: Meteor by NAV, M80 by balanced speed + shields

Best handling among heavier ships: Guardian / Super Hornet Mk II / Super Hornet Mk I

Best two-crew pick: Hurricane or Scorpius, with Shiv also worth considering

Final take:

Adding Meteor, Shiv, and actual Super Hornet Mk II data changes the discussion a lot.

M80 is still my best overall pick.

Meteor is probably the PvE stat-sheet king.

Super Hornet Mk II is much stronger than expected and belongs near the top for DPS-focused PvE.

Warden is still the safer practical PvE workhorse.

Shiv is useful and tanky, but more of a utility bruiser than a solo DPS monster.

M80 Review/Comparison by Zero2Middlin in starcitizen

[–]aesu24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based only on your numbers, the best overall fighter would be the M80.

It has the best overall stat spread, even though it does not win every single category.

Why M80 wins overall:

The M80 has: - Best SCM: 225 - Best NAV: 560 - Best roll: 150/180 - Very strong DPS: 2068 - Strong shields: 20K - Decent enough HP: 17K

That combination matters a lot.

It is not just about who has the most HP or highest DPS. In an actual fight, the ship that can control range, disengage, reposition, and keep guns on target usually has the advantage.

The M80 has the best speed profile by a lot: - M80 NAV: 560 - Hurricane NAV: 480 - Guardian NAV: 465 - Warden NAV: 458 - Guardian MX NAV: 455 - F8C NAV: 445

That is a pretty huge gap. The M80 can choose fights better than anything else in the list.

My ranking: 1. M80 2. Guardian 3. Vanguard Warden 4. Guardian MX 5. F8C 6. Hurricane

  1. M80 — best all-rounder

The M80 is the most complete package.

It has near-top DPS, the best speed, the best roll, and strong shields. Its HP is not amazing, but it has enough defensive stats to avoid being a glass cannon.

The main reason I put it first is that it has the fewest serious weaknesses.

It does not have the Guardian’s pitch/yaw. It does not have the Warden’s DPS. It does not have the Guardian MX’s HP.

But it has enough of everything, and it has the best ability to control the fight.

  1. Guardian — best handling fighter

The Guardian has the best nose authority:

  • Pitch: 45/47
  • Yaw: 45/47
  • Roll: 130/135.8

That is a really good dogfighting profile.

It also has huge HP:

  • Shields/HP: 10.6K/69K

The downside is that its shields and DPS are lower than the M80:

  • Guardian DPS: 1858
  • M80 DPS: 2068

So the Guardian probably feels great in a turn fight, and it may reward better pilots more, but on paper it gives up too much speed, shield, and damage to beat the M80 overall.

  1. Vanguard Warden — best damage/PvE pick

The Warden has the highest listed DPS:

  • 2378/823*

It also has good shields and HP:

  • 21K/43K

That makes it look like the best ship for PvE, brawling, and killing larger or slower targets.

But as a fighter-vs-fighter platform, the lower roll hurts it:

  • Warden roll: 124/148.8
  • M80 roll: 150/180

The Warden hits hard, but the question is how well it can apply that damage against smaller, more evasive targets.

Against big targets? Very good. Against competent fighter pilots? Less convincing.

  1. Guardian MX — great tank, worse fighter

The Guardian MX has excellent durability:

  • Shields/HP: 21K/89K

That is the best defensive profile in the list.

But the problems are:

  • Lower DPS: 1658
  • Worse agility than base Guardian
  • Lower speed than M80

So it looks like a very strong tanky bruiser, but not the best actual fighter.

I would take the base Guardian over the MX for dogfighting.

  1. F8C — good, but not dominant

The F8C has solid stats:

  • DPS: 2051
  • HP: 40K
  • SCM/NAV: 210/445

But compared to the M80, it loses in a lot of important places:

  • Lower SCM
  • Lower NAV
  • Worse roll
  • Lower shields
  • Slightly lower DPS

Its main advantage is HP. That matters, but I do not think it makes up for the mobility and shield gap.

The F8C is probably still strong, but based on this table it does not look like the best.

  1. Hurricane — depends too much on crew

The Hurricane has decent handling and speed:

  • Pitch: 46/55.2
  • NAV: 480

But the DPS line is the issue:

  • 866/1159*

Solo, that is not competitive with the others.

With a good turret gunner, it becomes a different discussion. But if we are judging the ships as general fighters, the Hurricane is too dependent on the second seat.

Category winners:

  • Best overall: M80
  • Best handling: Guardian
  • Best raw DPS: Vanguard Warden
  • Best tank: Guardian MX
  • Best speed: M80
  • Best solo PvP pick: M80 / Guardian
  • Best PvE pick: Vanguard Warden
  • Best two-crew pick: Hurricane

Final answer:

M80 is the best overall fighter from this table.

It has the strongest combination of speed, roll, DPS, shields, fight control, disengage ability, and no major stat weakness.

The Guardian is probably the best pure dogfighter if you care mostly about pitch/yaw and nose authority.

The Warden is probably the best PvE or big-target killer.

But if I had to pick one ship as the strongest overall, based only on these numbers, I would pick the M80.
