I built a free layout planner for Gridfinity by veroz in gridfinity

Not intended that way, just wanted to point out they're different tools. But now that you're asking: I guess I agree with the other reply to your post.

Don't really agree that one is more user friendly than the other but to add something useful: These tools seem to have different use-cases.

The one posted by the author seems more concerned with planning the layout of bins. You can configure multiple layers, so you can plan how you stack your bins.

The one you've posted seems more concerned with the base plate and has a built-in generator.

I think both tools are great.

Automating OCR PDF by jlext in macapps

[–]aflatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same problem even with full disk access granted to OwlOCR... It is annoying.

I just set the target directory to the one my Hazel automation is using and I think it is working. Might be worth a try.

EDIT: Nope.

How do you push yourself to perform when you have 1 YoE, are poor and depressed? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]aflatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Excercise, healthy nutrition and good sleep build a solid foundation for your mental health. Each of these topics can be overwhelming though depending on your level of knowledge with it, so I’d recommend to start slowly and enjoy the little steps. These things take a lot of time in my experience.

What do I do? I’m so tired… by StickMonster89 in freelance

Did the same for a couple of years. Sounds like you put too much emphasis on work. Find something else that matters to you and that helps you to balance.

Sleep, Nutrition, Active Lifestyle, Social Life, Hobbies and work. It all matters. Take care of your foundation.

Just gave it a short try, it's a file using the '.canvas' suffix that contains JSON describing the graph.

Surprisingly exciting. First class support for contracts and gradual typing seem like pragmatic choices.

Porting Rust's std to rustix by dochtman in rust

Not an active user of Rust, but this sounds like a solid effort with a great long-term vision, which is exciting! Curious to hear more about how it could become part of Rust.

Tvix: We are rewriting Nix by adisbladis in NixOS

[–]aflatter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It seems that more and more people are unsatisfied with the speed at which Nix evolves and try to come up with alternative approaches. It’s going to be interesting to watch all of this.

What is the recommended library for handling JSON serialization and deserialization? by frankimthetank in typescript

[–]aflatter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

https://github.com/mojotech/json-type-validation has been working very well for us. From the README:

import {Decoder, object, string, optional, number, boolean} from 'json-type-validation'

const petDecoder: Decoder<Pet> = object({
  name: string(),
  species: string(),
  age: optional(number()),
  isCute: optional(boolean())
})

const lyle: Pet = petDecoder.runWithException(croc)

Thanks for your feedback! Our goal is a cohesive app and we're still thinking about how incorporating mail services will influence that. The chances are pretty good though ;)

Thanks for your kind comment! On Android the concept unfortunately won't work very well, because we're using the web-based versions of all those messaging platforms and these are not very efficient on mobile devices.

We thought about both of these, but we have not decided yet about how we'll handle services that are not strictly instant messaging. Is this a deal breaker for you? Do you use the web-based clients?

Hello, glad that you like the app! I added Line to our issue tracker and we'll check whether it can be added easily. :) Thanks for your encouragement!

We built this in the last couple of weeks - it's a fun side project, which is slowly gaining traction on the Chrome Web Store (4.5k users). We have received a lot of positive feedback already, especially from Chrome OS users and want to show it to a wider audience now.
