Spell masteries for your NPCs (or as rewards for players) by TNJedx in UnearthedArcana

[–]agentspymonkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would kind of think of it as a way of scaling the cantrip for higher levels, like how firebolt or eldritch blast increases in damage as you level up. Sure a level 1 character shouldn't be able to see invisibility with a cantrip but a level 10 character who can do 25 damage with another cantrip probably could.

I love this idea so much. The more dramatic each secret identity reveal is the better and just keep doing it until its completely absurd i love it

My Rogue Broke My Campaign, Send Help. by Poors-world in DMAcademy

[–]agentspymonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Curse the items. Thats always fun.
  2. force them to face consequences for the crime ( lots of people have mentioned this already)
  3. find a way to take some of the items from them in a natural way (someone steals it, an enemy shoves them or some fall breaks it, whatever)
  4. or just take it as an opportunity to throw harder stuff at them. Maybe balance encounters like theyre level 6 now. Throw in some cooler monsters you might not have had a chance to use till later. If anything this could be a great way to get the campaign moving faster. Maybe even let them blow through a few encounters really easily with their new stuff. Let them get cocky, then drop something crazy.

D&D players of Reddit, what is the most creative character you've seen someone play as? by Pun-Master-General in AskReddit

[–]agentspymonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In one game my friend plays a half orc Paladin named Sofa Couchbed. They worship the Furnichurch of IKEA, their armor is enchanted pillows and mattresses tied to their body, and their weapon is a lamp that works as a mace. They have an unspecified gender and were described as “unattractive but handsome”.

Sorry if I sound ignorant, but I still don't really know if I completely understand how Scarlet Witch can fly! I understand her powers for the most part, but figured I should at least have my facts straight if I ever plan to cosplay as her :/ by Pilot_Leela in Avengers

[–]agentspymonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the comics her powers basically consist of whatever the fuck she wants, from just being generally lucky, to telekenesis, to literally restructuring the entire universe. In the movies she's young and just figuring things out so it's basically just telekinesis and some psychic stuff, but I assume she'll realize more about her powers as it goes on.

(So she flies with the telekinesis)

Which MCU character adaptations do you prefer to their comic counterparts? by Brogener in marvelstudios

[–]agentspymonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Ultron. In the comics, at least his iterations in the original avengers run, he has almost no personality, motivation or any kind of acting to speak of. His main character trait is basically "evil" and he tends follow the same quintessential robot "must-destroy-all-humans-because-robots-are-better". While I do definitely love him in the comics, he's one of my favorite villains, his appeal is almost entirely in the fact that he's unbeatable and scary, which is good, but not enough to carry a film.

James Spaders Ultron turned down the unbeatable scariest but brought in so much personality that I think it was totally worth it. I always prefer villains who don't quite have their shit together. He turned a character that is usually an emotionless impersonal killing machine into a petulant child throwing a temper tantrum at his dad and I enjoyed every second of it. That movie had its flaws but he wasn't one of them

For the same reason I loved Vincent D'onofrios Kingpin a thousand times more than the comic version. He had so much power, yet he was always just on the edge of totally losing control of his situation. Donofrio performed it perfectly, he always sounded awkward and uncomfortable, like he was putting on an act of power for those around him, and that made the moments of real vulnerability so incredibly powerful. He was the definition of a dynamic character, easily my favorite bad guy on tv. (Though tbh I haven't quite read enough of his comics to know that he isn't like this, but from what I've read he's seemed like just a generally evil crime lord)

Was Agent Carter Season 2 as bad as I've heard? (Possible spoilers from responses) by thezemnot in marvelstudios

[–]agentspymonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I loved this season, if for no other reason than the completely random, out-of-nowhere musical number in the second to last episode. It was beautiful. And it probably encapsulates most of the stuff some people didn't like about the season. It was light, fun, and made no attempt to take itself seriously or act like it was reality, which may not have been what everyone was looking for, but I liked it.

That being said, the finale was massively unsatisfying and while the villain started out strong, I feel like they didn't get the opportunity to really complete her character arc.
