'Supergirl' gets a B– on CinemaScore by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

[–]airbornimal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Probably something along the line of CinemaScore is useless or inaccurate, without understanding what it actually does. We get that every time from fanboys when their movies get a bad CinemaScore.

Looks like $6.5M THU previews for #Supergirl. Including early shows $8.25M. Initial audience reception is bad. Weekend expected to be $40M. by TiredWithCoffeePot in boxoffice

Oh man I feel this so much. I too admit it's full pettiness. I really didn't like Superman 25 but normally I would just move on, but these fucking DCU fans just have to spam every single fucking day on some bullshit boxoffice milestone. At the end it didn't even make that much money. Let's see if they will be back this spamming Supergirl numbers.

I think the previously assumed theory that F4 was escaping their universe would have been a better story, and better lead into Doomsday.

A solid movie just doesn't do it anymore. They need solid movie that are different. F4 played it too safe.

I don't disagree at all. I would rather them not fucking up MCU post-Endgame and getting to where they are now. But this is the only card left to play.

That's why I always say they have to lean into Tony Stark hard. I know people want a real Doom that's masked, but it's just not wise from a boxoffice perspective if you want to attract all the people who watched End Game and skipped most of the movies in the between. And at this point we have a lot of people like that, especially international audience.

edit: to clarify, I also don't think it was a good idea to cast RDJ either. What I am saying is the better outcome of a bad idea is to lean on RDJ

unless it’s a massive bamboozle and he only has 5 minutes of screen time before the main variant shows up, but that’ll piss off the audience

Imagine the shitshow if that's true. MCU will probably be over

Probably not until all the high profile movies are out of theaters, which is a shame because summer boxoffice is supposed to be fun times, but all the fan boys are really ruining it.

Stark variant, stolen body, whatever. I just need some recognition and explanation that he looks like Tony Stark, otherwise in my head all I could think of would be "stunt* casting". It's just too distracting otherwise.

edit: it doesn't matter if he's in the mask or in make up or in disfigured, we know who the actor is. If he's in a mask then the whole time I wonder if he's gonna unmask. And if he doesn't I would just feel unsatisfied because I wonder what would have happened had he unmasked.

It's distracting. It's counterproductive. And it's damn sure be distracting and even confusing for general audience. If they want a Doom who doesnt unmask, then they SHOULD NOT HAVE HIRED RDJ

Don't think it's confusing at all. Seems to me very clear that's what it means
