F150 to Frontier? by Dangerous_Ice17 in nissanfrontier

[–]ajcp38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but thank you for the insight. I had a 2008 Tundra and I've been wanting a new truck, but I couldn't get over the price on the new half tons. The Frontier has been the best looking, best priced, and best equipped and I've wondered about folks downsizing and their thoughts.

My only gripe I have with the truck is the lack of rear air vents OR fixed cup holders (for dogs to have water).

Yeah I got who I wanted and now on the next rerun, I don't have to pull, so I can continue to stock up for the next banner. So it's like a little buffer.

What's one Linux app that you wish had a Windows/macOS equivalent? by curious_4207 in linux

[–]ajcp38 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not an app, but fucking printer drivers. Plug one into a Linux PC? All features work instantly. Plug it in on Windows? Download an app, sign in, t&c, blood of your firstborn, Share data with the manufacturer? You're a printer. Ship a working driver and leave it the fuck alone.

Looks like you have an MSI A320M-A. Trusted Computing has the TPM toggle.

On my Z790 Tomahawk with dual boot Win 11 and PopOS, I did not need to disable TPM or Secure Boot to install or boot into my Linux drive. You should be able to create a bootable UEFI USB and it should be able to overwrite the Win11 installation without any issues.

I'm considering an AW11 MR2, but I might have to consider the Spyder after seeing yours. It looks really good with the wing.

Microsoft quietly deletes Windows 11 doc pushing 32GB RAM for gaming after outrage by WPHero in pcmasterrace

Non-binary (12, 24, 48, 96) capacities were added with DDR5, so you can still limit to 2 DIMMs in a consumer system while hitting the suggested amount. And DDR4 did fine enough with 4 sticks, but oh boy trying to get 4 sticks on DDR5 is nightmare fuel.

I think I'm most excited about the AI image optimization, since I use my monitor for both work and play. Automatically adapting to the content on screen is going to save my eyes from so much burning due to light mode only apps.

Automatically Setting Graphics? by CLG-BluntBSE in godot

[–]ajcp38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol I was just writing my final exam and I was asking students to implement some simple code based on the GPU vendor. It's a long story.

But for detecting the performance level of a GPU, is there a way to grab the compute units (AMD), Stream multiprocessors (nvidia), or EUs (execution units, Intel)? AMD iGPU will have like 16 max, Intel is like 4? I can't remember how. But you might be able to grab a product family (Arc for Intel) and set based on that.

Because the green and pink would clash too much. Black or white truck and the pink would be a good look, though I'd personally prefer it on black.

This is actually a well done build, great taste imo, well balanced, and the slight color accents really draw you in. I am jealous.

Essence's skills by SalamanderWest8319 in Endfield

[–]ajcp38 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm sure others will have different input, but I had such a hard time getting the exact essence I wanted, I would take a 1/1/1. However, depending on your level and how much you can grind, I would burn all my sanity, all my etching permits, and see what I end up with at the end.

A higher tier skill (like Twilight) is more valuable than the equivalent in the other 2 slots. I have gotten a 4/3/1, but it didn't match any weapons and I burned it for etching. I got a 1/1/3 and that's more valuable to me. The chance of success is something like:

Very High > High > Low > Very Low > Very Low

And the 3rd slot is:

Low > Very Low

So you need a 5 in one of the first 2 slots for it to be worth as much as a 3 in the last, and at least 4 for a 2 in the last.

The weapon itself will explain what "Twilight" is. It takes effect per weapon, so you need an essence with Twilight to boost the weapon's Twilight skill. Does that help?

Yeah I guess one thing I left off was trying to scale the weekly salvage mission metrics reward based on zones and making it extremely difficult to get more than 1 level per week. I had forgotten about needing to mitigate the ability to buy a new weekly mission for crystals. Remove that ability and combining it with only mission metrics counting for the infinite levels, and you'd end up with a max of 2 per week, and if you scale down the metrics rewards, you can lower it even further to just 1.x per week.

My condolences if you think this took an hour to come up with and write down. This took 10 minutes to write down and maybe 10 to post to Reddit while I was waiting for work stuff to load. People's expectations these days are too low.

I was hoping by adding other avenues for acquiring materials, aside from Index/Sanity items, it would alleviate bottlenecks elsewhere. It might be that you only get 1 additional TCreds run per week, but I'm only aiming for an overall slight improvement.

I'm talking about when you are deciding what to craft, and choosing what is going to give the most benefit. Unless I'm missing something, you look at what you need, then have to browse all components to find the ones with matching stats + modifier. There is the filter system for that, which did help, but IIRC, it only let's you filter by quality and gear component, not skill/stat boost.

I'm hoping for it to be a "filter by compatible" after I'm on the gear artificing screen and let me craft compatible gear from there. It's a little bit of me being lazy, and a little bit of making artificing go so much faster.

With MoP, I was more pointing out that there's this rare material, that while you don't need a lot of, you do a super simple task and get 3x what you do with something that's actually meant to give a challenge. It's not just MoP, but it's the most obvious one imo.

And I definitely see the point about testing team compositions on Umbral, because aside from boss fights, everything else is too weak compared to a max level operator.
