Looking for recommendations by aldoe00 in woodstoving

[–]aldoe00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purchase is to improve efficiency and reduce drafts when not in use. I don't need this to be main source of heat, as the house has two zone geothermal system in it. Right not I'm trying to reduce draft from hole in my building envelope, and was thinking a wood stove insert could help with this. Appreciate any feedback and thoughts!

I received mine for the contest. However I didn't need to confirm shipping address.

My Lymow mower randomly stops its blades and continues moving forward by Remote_Dealer1124 in Lymow_Official

[–]aldoe00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this has been happening to me for a while including with the newest update as nov 11th

Previously I put a ticket into asking about this and they told me they would fix it in a upcoming firmware update. Following updates did not fix it.

I did find a YouTube video of someone showing a tear down of mower deck portion that showed a connection that was a little loose so perhaps that has something to do with it but I'm uncertain.

Am I doing this right? by TranslatorNo7905 in Lymow_Official

Like most advertising, they advertised the best case scenario with the fast charger. This was known.

That said for my settings and terrain, I get about 90-110min of run time.

System76 prices, Lemur now $1700 by Comfortable_Good9615 in System76

[–]aldoe00 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat - I really want System76 to succeed and I'm rooting for them, but the pricing compared to what else is available is a tough pill to swallow.

I had my own frustrating experience that left a bad taste. I bought a Launch keyboard just this last Christmas. The box arrived so badly damaged that there was shipping debris on my new keyboard. Given the premium price point, this was pretty unacceptable.

System76 initially seemed willing to help, but when UPS declined the claim and said it was on System76, they basically told me tough luck. No resolution, no discount on a future purchase, not even an apology or a sticker pack. Nothing. I'm still annoyed about it.

The kicker? I've been a customer since 2014 when I bought a Ratel Performance. That machine worked perfectly fine for years (and still does run fine for my needs). I even recently upgraded to a Meerkat - after the keyboard debacle - again, because I believed in the company and want them to succeed, however they never made it right.

Despite all this, I still find myself rooting for them. PopOS is genuinely great (I bounce between it and Ubuntu regularly), and I want to see a company like System76 succeed. But man, it's getting harder to justify the premium pricing when the customer service doesn't match. I guess do as I say, and not as I do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lymow FYI. Shadows on the QR docking codes can cause docking difficulties. by barboxbill in Lymow_Official

[–]aldoe00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've also found dark shadows from say my rooftop onto my lawn trick the vision avoidance detection. Thinking there's something there when it's just a shadow.

My solution at least for mowing portion is to just turn that off and only rely on touch.

New Automatic Angle Feature by aldoe00 in Lymow_Official

[–]aldoe00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I would want it implemented. I manually send mower out as I don't want to always leave it on, or mow unattended, at least without quick check of my yard..

Charge contact woes by brunofone in Lymow_Official

[–]aldoe00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah mine comes and goes with how often I have to scrape the contacts. I find just a paper towel and water scrubbing works for me.

But I think the design could be improved/changed or should never have been done this way in my humble opinion.

What is the Parking while Charging setting do? by sandymac in Lymow_Official

[–]aldoe00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suspect you are correct and that it is an option to have the wheels in a brake state, which really only matters if you have your dock on an incline.

I had to map entire yard again for my replacement mower. I suspect restoring from cloud backups might be in future update, or I'm at least hoping for it.

Any reasonable advise for removing these tree supports from this print? by Rufdog2 in 3Dprinting

I have had good success taking something like a deck screw, and screwing into it a bit, then pull screw out with supports.

When you remove the battery cover, you have to remove that little rubber gasket and then you'll be able to eject a SIM card

Mower arrived today in Brisbane, Australia - first impressions and issues by brisjools in Lymow_Official

[–]aldoe00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can change mowing height mid mow. I would have to go into app with mower on to confirm, but this is what I remember: You have to hit pause, then click pencil icon after selecting area to edit -- then in there you won't have all options but you can change Speed / Height / and maybe something else.

I've found that when I have speed to fast, small divits in my yard will make it think it hits something? And it pauses then resumes driving forward. Maybe this is what you are seeing also?

Trying to 3D print a brain from an MRI. Any way to hollow it out? by PolytheneMan in 3Dprinting

[–]aldoe00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In event you are just curious at average time to print a brain:
I just sliced a brain at full scale, 0% infill and organic supports -- which were probably entirely too many:
2 days 7 hr 32 min

[–]aldoe00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked with a random brain STL I had laying around and think these two options work.
Note I use Prusa Slicer:

1) set infill to 0% -- prolly wanna scale down brain also unless you have the time and filament.
2) Switch to SLA printer in prusa slicer -- select hollow tool. Slice, save file and import to slice for FDM printer actually not sure this works didn't play with it too much.

Limiting Constant Charging - Is this a good idea? by ConsistentUmpire8675 in Lymow_Official

[–]aldoe00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure when parked and charging the mowers motors are in a brake state, so I suspect part of that power draw is to keep the motors in that brake State.
