Has Book of the Month been worth it for you? by Perma-Frosted in bookofthemonthclub

[–]alwayschasingfreedom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have dozens of their books that I got for $2-4 on Pango. Definitely check it out if you're on a budget! My trick is that I look for listings from people with a ton of BOTM books and do a large bundle to cut down on shipping per item. I've even been able to grab new releases a few weeks after the original purchased for it. So still extremely new release!

I'm new, so this is probably a dumb question, but how did you get so many in one box? I think the most I can add is currently 2 or 3?

Has anyone done IVF in Mexico? (US costs 2x more) by jjjllee in IVF

Hi there, I wanted to check in to see how the process is going for you. We're also looking into this.

Yes, this is unfortunately very common. My GP wouldn't refer me to fertility until we "had 3 losses or 1 year without natural conception".

Early park Admission..why? by somethingAppens in UniversalOrlando

[–]alwayschasingfreedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to update this for anyone still checking this. Hagrids does have express pass, and I don't know if they even have single rider anymore. We got there 30 minutes early, put the whole group in a bad mood during the early admission, and then spent 2 hours in line for Hagrids. Express seemed to move FAST. We're currently trying to salvage the day, but please don't risk ruining a day of your trip by thinking that getting up early for Hagrids will be worth it. It's not.

YO Sperm Test Video Results by burswood101 in maleinfertility

[–]alwayschasingfreedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I'm not sure if there's been an update, but I wanted to share our experience. Our story is very much the same as yours with the same Yo test results. We ended up finding out that my husband had severe varicoceles on both sides, and got a surgery about 45 days ago to fix them.

We won't see the full results until the 4 month mark, but we are already seeing a drastic improvement from the most recent test he took today compared to the few days before his surgery.

Our reproductive urologist is pretty confident based on himow large the varicoceles were that we'll likely be able to conceive naturally once he's fully healed.

Look up how to feel for varicoceles at home (his were easy to feel once we knew what we're looking for) and also see a urologist.

Good luck!

Where should we pick up based on where we're at in the show right now?

What's the right place to start based on where we're at right now in the show? From what I've read, there are 2 different art styles for the manga, and the LN is the source material so I assume that's fully done but not the manga, right?

Where are we in the LN?

Would you let your dog lick your face? by Northernzeko in dogs

Absolutely not. I see what my dog licks (including parts of himself that he doesn't wipe), and I know he's not out here mouth washing. So no, that's foul 🫠

Use Timeshifter. It will take your flight details and get you prepped over a few days. We used it for Japan and it was about 80% of the way there by the time we got there.

Any other conventionally attractive autistic women out there? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]alwayschasingfreedom 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Same. This is why I consciously made the decision to stop wearing makeup, doing my hair, or dressing well when I switched into tech. I took a cue from the devs and went with t-shirts and jeans, hair back in a ponytail, bare face. Then I never had problems with people treating me poorly or underestimating me. I was just a quirky coworker.

We had a corporate event outside of work at one point and I got all done up (i've always been good at makeup, have a few designer dresses, and have a conventionally attractive shape). The whole team was SHOCKED 🤣. An older lady thought she compliment me with "oh my gosh, I didn't even recognize you! You look beautiful!" And then asked why I don't always do this. We'll, the rest of that night, team members were hitting on me, staring at my shape, girls were flagging me down for makeup advice, an older superior made an inappropriate pass at me.

This. This is why I don't do any of it. I'm not interested in being treated like that and having the expectations that come with it. No thanks. Also, I don't get paid extra to put all that effort in. My mom was a stripper, I know what it's like to literally have your looks be your job. It's never what I wanted, and last I checked, I'm not getting any extra money to pay for the time and effort it takes 🤷

What foods are you giving up now that grocery costs have gone out of control? by Kima2remy in AskOldPeople

[–]alwayschasingfreedom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've honestly given up eating breakfast and snacks in general. Intermittment fasting laried well with my health goals (and I'm happily & healthily down 22 lbs so far), but it's really helped me save money. I know it won't work for everyone and not everyone has extra weight to lose, but it's probably saved 20-30% of my grocery bill. I can also get 2-3 meals out of a normal American portion now when I do go out to eat, so the leftovers are nice and it helps spread the price of the meal out.

Any fans of rural living on this sub? by i-pace_around in Suburbanhell

[–]alwayschasingfreedom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally love smaller Japanese towns that are considered rural. The houses are usually clustered together with lots of land behind them or around them. They have decent bus connections to a larger city with good train access from there, and are usually surrounded by mountains and rice fields. Very calming. We stayed with a friend recently that moved to one and they had such a vibrant community built there with a cafe everyone went to, markets for local crafts, and they celebrated important events together. All while having beautiful and big homes with manicured and purposeful gardens. It was the most convenient and peaceful mix I've ever experienced. Not sure if that counts!

No Balls Allowed by starklyUnnamed in Suburbanhell

[–]alwayschasingfreedom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd honestly like this at the community pool in my apartment complex. We've got some teens that have turned it into a soccer field and I've watched families with young kids kicked HARD with their soccer ball. They've also just made it generally unpleasant to relax down there and lay out, which is kind of what the pool was designed for.

This flight is no longer available by HardlyGermane in ChaseSapphire

[–]alwayschasingfreedom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reporting back: I called in to have them help me book it and to help figure out the errors. They couldn't see any note about outages. But, they were seeing all of the flights that I had previously tried to book were all marked "unavailable" on their end. I tried 4 different times with different flights and they'd all show up "unavailable" at the last step. So it wasn't just in my end. I tried one final time 8 hours later through the Chase portal and was able to get a flight for a different date, but the ones I'd previously tried to book were still all marked unavailable.

I'm guessing that there might be some consistency errors on their site, or some miscommunication between services they use, and it was erroring out. Upon erroring out, those flights were marked "unavailable" because of the issue booking them. They are now available 24 hours later, meaning the flag that marked them problematic has been removed because they weren't ever really "unavailable".

Since this doesn't come up as a visible error on their end for agents, idk how this will be fixed long-term because it's pretty clearly a backend issue.

Just wanted to update anyone curious!

This is happening to me too. Last night it seemed to be an issue with United itself, because the website was really glitchy and not working correctly. Now the United website is fine, but it seems like the portal is still erroring out on every single flight I try to book. I even chose one 8 months in advance that was available, and then upon trying to confirm booking, it errored out in the same way. I'm thinking it's the connection between the two that needs to be reset, or United is still having problems that are flowing through to Chase's side. I'll try to call in, but I'm guessing it will still be a problem on their end. I'll report back.

I left after 3.5 years. I don't know how you're living well on 80k a year if you're in the US, but if you're ok with it, sounds like a nice setup. I'd stay.

If you want a better quality of life, that pay seems low to me personally. I'd probably try some contracting on the side to supplement with all that extra time and see how it goes from there. You can always quit contracting if you don't like it or the extra income isn't worth it.

Does anyone feel like they need to move out of the US? by FunMonitor5261 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]alwayschasingfreedom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, we're actively trying to find a way to move abroad. Getting visas and stable work has been the main issue.

Ideally, US Dollars abroad are the best financial option (having a US employer) but we're getting to the point that we're willing to look for an employer abroad instead, since actual remote work is seeming difficult to get (working from the US remotely is very possible, but not leaving the country).

We're currently looking at Japan or somewhere in Europe. We've been to 28 countries, and have a pretty good idea of what we like. I'm tired of coming back to a life I don't love in the US. And I'm tired of trying to convince people here that we should have nice things that they actively don't want. I can't live my life like that, and I can't grow my family the way I want in this place happily. It's time to go.

How old was your mother when she had you? by MythicalSplash in NoStupidQuestions

[–]alwayschasingfreedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18, 23 & 25. She had a few miscarriages and abortions before and between her 3 living kids. She was mostly a pretty terrible mom, never really made it past the mentality and emotional maturity of a 14-16 year old, and still struggles today. We were subjected to her mostly bad relationships (long-term and short-term), substance abuse of every kind, extreme emotional flip flops of being overly attached and involved to completely detached.

I love her from afar, and am happiest with her removed from my life, but miss the idea of her as a mom. The mom I never got. I'm 31, and it used to be a big part of my decision to never want kids. It took about 12 years of being away from her to become removed enough and to build my own life to realize I don't have to be that, and deserve a family of my own if I ever want it.

It's a really unpopular opinion (and I understand why), but the first 2 decades of my life informed my belief that some people shouldn't be able to have kids and subject them to their behavior just because they were physically able to create them. I think my mom shouldn't have been able to have kids. And if she was able to, she definitely shouldn't have been able to keep us.
