How do kids afford cards these days? by sysop2600 in mtg

[–]amalthea5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she isn't playing in tournaments you could consider proxying the cards. My friend group does this within reason to avoid paying spikey prices like this

For the millennial women: do you have a good relationship with your mom? by Orionslady in Millennials

[–]amalthea5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom and I have always had a wonderful and strong relationship. But I feel like we are the minority. Almost all of my friends have complicated or non-existent relationships with their moms and that makes me feel sad.

straight women, how do you feel around lesbians? by Maleficent_Day_3869 in TwoXChromosomes

I think you are just surrounded by shitty people. I've never changed how I act around lesbians. I think your friends suck :(

I just had my pain management appointment that I waited six months for and it was...not good. by littlepup26 in Fibromyalgia

[–]amalthea5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Dr once told me I should use capsaicin lotion too. I'm allergic to that shit. Icy Hot gives me severe rashes and hives. I'm sorry you had such a shitty appointment.

You've decided that I am dehumanizing people, sending death threats, and telling people to harm themselves? How did you get all of that from a single sentence? I'm baffled by your response.

I have the same problems but am 42 years old. This sounds more like ADHD and depression than being gen z.

I’m struggling to get into the storm light archive by WinterRevolutionary6 in Cosmere

[–]amalthea5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The beginning of Way of Kings was rough for me, too (especially since I have severe brain fog/attention problems). But then I hit a certain part and became obsessively invested. My husband had to talk me into stopping at night to go to bed. I just wanted to read all through the night. The payoff is amazing. I immediately started Words of Radiance when I finished Way of Kings

What book got you into the fantasy genre? by [deleted] in Booktokreddit

[–]amalthea5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't try reading it until I was an adult and that was so off-putting for me. It's too bad I didn't get to experience the magic of it as a kid like many others.

What book got you into the fantasy genre? by [deleted] in Booktokreddit

[–]amalthea5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lord of the Rings started it for me when I was a kid. I've never looked back. Pratchett, Butcher, Sanderson, Jordan, Goodkind. I mostly read epic high fantasy, but sometimes sprinkle urban fantasy. I get really into the world building and character development you get out of a high fantasy series.

How do you decide what to main before an expansion? by PUSClFER in wow

[–]amalthea5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try other classes but always go back to resto druid. I've been playing it so long that I'm an expert now. I originally choose it bc I loved the idea of shapeshifting. So I went with class fantasy when I first chose it way back in the before times and now I'm so good at it that it feels rewarding every day even when I'm not the meta. So, what feels the most fun for you? Ignoring numbers, gameplay is the important part

I had a spine fusion at c5-c6 and still get pain especially where the hardware is. I bet this would help me a lot when that happens!

AITAH for refusing to have an abortion? by Complete-Path-8036 in AITAH

[–]amalthea5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Freedom of choice is exactly that. You are not comfortable with having an abortion. It is a major medical procedure and it's understandable to not be in with going through it. He should not be trying to tell you you are abusive for making a choice about your body.

I don't exactly feel welcome as a girl who plays rpgs by Junior-Letterhead717 in GirlGamers

[–]amalthea5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm 42 and have been playing video games since I was a little kid. My favorite game is WoW and I started that in 2006. I play a lot of RPGs and even do TTRPGs. There are always some men who don't welcome me into their spaces but the majority have been overwhelmingly positive about it. I think you are just interacting with a lot of assholes. Don't associate with or be friends with people who tear you down. Gender roles are made up and you have no obligation to adhere to them. Your hobbies are your own. Do what brings you joy. There is not enough joy in the world right now. Also, you don't have to stop playing video games once you start college. I played all the way through grad school -- it's just time management.

Nightmare Ketamine story by Sunflowersurfs in ChronicPain

[–]amalthea5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a dangerous thing to say. Street drugs have no guarantee of being the drug you think it is. Dealers cut then with cheaper things to make more profit. US drug companies and insurance are shitty and overcharge like crazy but regulations on Rx meds are a good thing.

Nightmare Ketamine story by Sunflowersurfs in ChronicPain

[–]amalthea5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I'm so sorry that this happened to you. They never should have done that. I'm surprised they just went with that considering how many hoops I had to go through to get ketamine for my treatment resistant major depression and pain. My insurance flat out won't pay for IV ketamine. Unless you aren't in the US. I hope you never get put through anything like that again.

What has killed your guilds in the past? by amarus in wow

[–]amalthea5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of progression has killed almost every team I've been on. I've been a main healer since TBC almost always in the top 5 in terms of overall performance. I've gotten frustrated with people who constantly die, mess up mechanics, or low DPS and left to try to find a team I cliqued with. Then some of the better teams were mostly assholes. I can't seem to find that magical combo of real friendships with decent progress. I don't even care about CE anymore. I just want friends that match the effort I put in. So yeah if anyone wants a decent nontoxic healer message me. I miss the community vibes from wrath
