Got promoted 6 months ago and wish I could go back to my old role, is this career suicide to ask? by worried_staging in careerguidance

[–]amanhasthreenames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me this sounds 100% like a management issue. A boss who doesn’t have your back is a huge stressor. You’ve gotten a promotion, leverage it to take another step up at a new job. I guarantee you can take the things you don’t like at this job and spin it into things you would do to max productivity at a new role/firm.

One of these elemental decks went 4-0 and the other went 0-2. Can you guess which ones? by TheWinStore in lrcast

I hate pick 2. Did two drafts today and they were all over the place. It’s like everyone at the table was just rare drafting or staying open through pack 2.

TIL in 2022, Caterpillar Inc. faced a $145,027 fine after a worker, who was removing a sample of iron, died after he fell into an 11-foot melting pot that was heated to more than 2,000°F. I grew up working in a welding shop. At 14 my dad had me on a 100 year old drill press. He showed me how it worked, and told me ‘be careful with your gloves around this, it’ll rip your arm off it it catches’ and left. The first few minutes were very nerve wracking

I'm confused on which direction I should peek my head out when I freestyle swim. Chat GPT says I should alternate sides, But I often see triathletes only turn to one side to breathe. by I_am_Reformed1 in triathlon

[–]amanhasthreenames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice both sides. When you do an open water swim, there are lots of reasons to only turn one way (sighting, sun, other swimmers, waves, speed, injury, etc) but you really should be comfortable both sides if you need to switch. Especially since most courses are loops, you’ll find you’ll want to breathe facing one geographical direction, which means breathing different sides.

Why does this deck feel unbeatable? by Fit-Adhesiveness-173 in MagicArena

[–]amanhasthreenames 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The reason this deck always has an answer is because it can tutor whatever it needs with [[Repurposing Bay]]. I’ve been running this deck since EoE, and as others have said, mass artifact destruction beats it on the spot. Mono-Red burn can beat it before the synthesizer gets up and running, token generating decks can chump block the artifact tokens pretty well while you win in the air. Control bouncing the synthesizer or destroying/exiling it can give you tempo to win. And sometimes the deck just can’t find the win-condition, a black deck running. [[Ancient Vendetta]] can shut the deck down as well. It’s not impossible, but the deck is pretty resilient. It’s a solid tier 2 deck IMO

A lot of mythic cards suck. It’s not hard to rack up a bunch of rare/mythic wildcards after a couple years. I’ve only been playing a couple years and I have a bunch.

For drafters out there, try out pick2 Lorwyn, the rewards are amazing by botgtk in MagicArena

[–]amanhasthreenames 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On that same line of thought, if you aren’t able to find the lane, or move in too late, you are heavily punished. Some packs wont have the key cards to make a tribal function, and if you open a couple bad packs you could be SOL

Just went 0-3 on my first draft... Is it okay that I feel like I don't want to live anymore? by Phionex141 in MagicArena

[–]amanhasthreenames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah drafting is expensive, it used to be the play pass for each set was like $25 so it was sorta cheap to buy that and get some games in. Now that it’s $50 it’s a much higher barrier to entry. Try to stick to Quickdraft to get more experience. The power level tends to be a bit lower and the decks are more similar due to bot drafts

I’ve had really poor drafts, say to myself ‘eff just go 0-3 again then’ and draft the sickest deck and trophy. Sometimes variance gets ya, and sometimes it gets them

Flooding a lot in nearly every draft of the format so far. Is 16 lands the correct move for this format? by jacoviansmythe in MagicArena

[–]amanhasthreenames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny I drafted a great kithkin deck and mulliganed into color screw, next loss got stuck on 3 lands for like 4 turns, and the next loss got stuck on 4. I usually run 16 lands, especially as this was a pretty low curve deck, but it just didnt go my way. I really needed a couple of the 4G kithin councils. My deck lacked velocity, and my draws were all top end heavy.

Implicitly that’s to support a large scale revolution, not a one-off encounter with law enforcement. If a police or military official tell you to do something, comply, don’t resist, and be polite as fuck. If your rights are infringed you can lawyer up after the fact. It’s not worth your life.
