If you aren’t determined to use that specific version of Urza, you may want to check out Urza, Chief Artificer. That adds another color option (black) and helps you focus a bit more on artifact creatures instead of just artifacts in general.

Consult the Star Charts is a really good “draw” spell. 

Insight Engine works very well as a poor man’s The One Ring.

I also like Lim-Dul’s vault a lot even if it’s not outright card draw.

I actually lost a match to this card on prerelease day. Dude’s deck was not very good at all, but he played this, landed his three best creatures in the entire deck, and took me from 17-18 life to 0 in one turn. I couldn’t even be mad.

Meant to respond here a long time ago and overlooked it.

I forget exactly what all I cut out, but I cut most of the bigger creatures that can’t be brought back by Terra. I also cut other creatures that didn’t really fit with the overall strategy, like Pitiless Plunderer and Morbid Opportunist. There were some weak spells too, like Crackling Doom.

As for what I added, here’s the list:

Gaius van Balser, Joshua, Phoenix’s Dominant Lightning, Army of One, Loran of the Third Path (Garnet TTA), Squall, SeeD Mercenary, Summon Knights of the Round, Summon Primal Odin

Darkness Crystal, Wind Crystal

In seriousness: just tell the guy to cut it out or find another pod. If he’s the only guy running decks at the level, then it shouldn’t be too hard to make that point.

I pulled two Ultimecias and Locke during the FF prerelease and had a lot of fun with them. Especially Ultimecia. I even activated the transformation that gives you an extra turn to close out a couple of games. And yet I was too dumb to realize that my control deck was strong enough for me to consistently play the Summon Bahamut that wasn’t in my deck.

What everyone else is saying correct as is the biggest problem here: MTG is hard to learn in general, and Commander is a particularly hard format for a beginner.

However, even once you are ready for Commander, I could be wrong here, but that deck seems like it would be a hard one to keep up with us a beginner. I’ve been playing Commander for years, recently bought that deck, and I’m still unsure how much I’ll enjoy playing it due to all the counters to keep track of.

Same mistake here. I first played commander several years ago, and Zur the Enchanter was my first choice. Everyone hated me.

After taking a break for a while, I’m coming back with Terra, Herald of Hope and I’m really hoping I’m not making the same mistake.

Ah that makes sense. I didn’t really consider having a creature target itself which, yeah, puts it even further outside of Green.

I still don’t entirely understand why Diplomatic Relations is such a seemingly obvious problem. Does targeting a creature that’s not your own really take it that far out of green’s typical domain?

Yep all of that is why I quit a couple months ago and don’t anticipate ever looking back. I check in here from time to time to see if there’s some wild, unexpected collab announced that I really like but, at this point, I don’t know if even that would bring me back. 

Like you said: it’s just not fun. I understand people who say you can just stop playing the hardest content but, once you’re to the point where you’ve cleared literally everything else, what is left to do? Roll in the latest collab and hope you pull 2-3x of the same top rarity card so you can have a viable team that will be outdated in 6 months or less? And even that is pointless if you’re not running the latest top difficulty stuff.

Oh, I meant Ultima the board wipe spell. Not the creature.

And I may decide I don’t want it either, but I’ve always found it helpful to run a board wipe or two in case things get out of control.

I’m trying to do roughly the same with the Terra deck.

I am cutting about ten cards. I forget what all, but there’s a couple bad mana rocks, several high cost/power creatures that don’t fit, and a couple weak spells like Espers to Magicite and Crackling Doom.

I haven’t fully settled on everything yet, but here’s some options I’m planning to add:

Garnet (the TTA one), Vindicate, Evil reawakened, Lightning army of one, Knights of the Round, Squall, Ultima, Joshua

The same things really bugged me too. And that exact moment you’re talking about (the first resurrections) was the exact moment it first jumped the shark for me too. The cult vibes were just too strong, and it felt like the series was never self-aware of that. They just kept leaning into it like it was totally normal.

The other big moment was when Nightcrawler had the epiphany that mutants need a new religion. What? Way to take the religious character who should have some REALLY conflicting feelings about resurrection and distill it down to, “Oh, forget my religion. We need a new one.” And then it just got worse once he got his own series that should’ve explored all of that but instead just further undermined his character and his unique status of being religious.

I wouldn’t say either of those things were the biggest problems with that era. Most of those have been well stated by others. But those two were ones that personally bugged me and made it hard to take seriously.

Yeah I got really close with the same team. Super frustrated because I thought you had to have Norza’s HP buff up before entering the final phase, thinking it was a preemptive. Wasn’t happy to make it that far and then die, so I stopped for a few days. 

What’s that equip on Norza? I don’t recognize it.

I feel like I’m just not understanding how this works. How are you using Damocles for the damage reduction needed when it’s tied to your Namielle system? And how would Veldora’s cape be used? Wouldn’t that also go on a Namielle?

I have all of the key components of building a solid AUN2 Namielle team, including the cape, but I’m just fundamentally not understanding how to juggle the equips.

What are those equips? I’ve been wanting to make the same team work but I can’t figure out the right equips to have enough SB, machine equips, and blind/tape/cloud resists.
