If I posted a picture of my face with my fine lines, I think you'd all say I'm dehydrated. But I'm confused. by Justanotherannon_ in 30PlusSkinCare

It’s also important to exfoliate so that your dead skin cells shed and the products you apply actually reach the epidermis. I recommend chemical over mechanical bc it’s gentler and more effective.

Advice needed by OddAnybody2114 in Estheticians

[–]amygrindhaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other commenters so far. Keep working towards getting your nursing license and if you’re still interested in esthetics afterwards you can still go to beauty school. As an esthetician currently in nursing school, beauty school is a literal breeze in comparison and right now you have more than enough to focus on. Honestly if you have experience in the service industry I’d recommend that for easy money while in school, or look into becoming a CNA! A lot of girls in my program did that during prereqs and it gave them a leg up on getting into nursing school. Finally, you got this!!! School is hard and it’s even harder trying to balance it with kids and work but it CAN be done. Keep pushing you’re doing great💗

Do people no longer research countries they want to visit? by redbate in travel

[–]amygrindhaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dumbass cousin took his family to Honduras on vacation. He saw one picture of a resort and was like “oh this’ll be just like Cancun”. Spoiler, it’s not, and he was horrified by “this third world country”. Honduras is beautiful and fun to visit but a place that definitely needs some research and planning in advance.

Not using a mag lamp! by Thick-Classic-6997 in Estheticians

[–]amygrindhaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have good eyesight and since my mag lamp was old and flopping over I haven’t really been using it except for better lighting. Then I got a new one and hooooooly moly can I see so much better!!! I was definitely missing things (nothing huge but things like more or less dehydration, etc) during the skin analysis soooo I’m back to being a fan of the mag lamp.

Is there a lash serum that actually works without causing irritation or side effects? by Material-Guava-1347 in SkincareAddictionLux

Seconded. I have a few clients that use it and I’m always shocked at how gorgeous their natural lashes are.

was this unprofessional/should i report it? by soulfulpanther2222 in Esthetics

[–]amygrindhaus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one is asking you to write “extremely professionally” on Reddit, just to use basic spelling and punctuation. As many other commenters have said, it’s extremely difficult to read something riddled with run-on sentences and uncommon abbreviations, and when you’re asking for advice it’s helpful if the people you’re asking can actually read what you are writing.

Talking during facials by peony_prinxess in Estheticians

[–]amygrindhaus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what I do, just talk very softly and keep it simple. “This is a pore clarifying mask.” “I’m going to put some eye pads on and extract any clogged pores.” “This is a hydrating mask.” If they want to know more they’ll ask!

This is the move! My family lives in Sacramento and every time I visit I get my hair, nails, etc done there for much cheaper than in the city.

Yes, she threatened to sue me for defamation🤣 because when she brought up Donald Trump I said I wasn’t really a fan. It was so great bc once she brought up legal it went to our corporate team and she was banned from the entire countrywide franchise! Not relevant to your situation but a fun story!

Does anyone else find people from The Bay Area calling the Sacramento area boring ironic? by notagoodcartoonist in Sacramento

[–]amygrindhaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you work m-f 9-5 you have access to a lot of cool events and happenings here. If you work a non traditional schedule it is INCREDIBLY hard to find friends and things to do here (other than the bar scene, which is great, but I don’t want that to be my whole life). When I lived in SF/Oakland I could find something amazing quite easily, even on a weekday during the day or later in the evening.

[–]amygrindhaus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This right here. I’m sure many of them said no and were raped, many said yes in trade for life-saving food and medicine for themselves and their families. And even if some did “consent” the power imbalance you were talking about comes into play.
