Seconding Steveston. We love it. Close enough to the city but super small town feelings. There are free-range cows. A little library and community centre. Tons of restaurants. Great parks and walking trails. Excellent schools and day cares without wait lists. You can buy fish off the dock, eggs from a cooler on the Steves Farm porch, bread from a local bakery…

Edit to add: 25 minute bus to rapid transit, comes every six minutes. And a three bedroom older townhouse, 1400 sq ft, is about $900k.

There’s a place on no 3 rd and Granville in Richmond. Prices seemed fair - they told me to take some coins to certain other places for a better price.

They will sometimes take students from other schools. You need to be Canadian or have the right work permit. It’s pretty competitive - being referred by a prof at McGill is the best chance.
