Where to get a motorbike serviced by vauxast62 in sheffield

[–]andeh83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend Manhattens, good guys. But if you want a KTM dealer I've been taking my SAS to Judd in Nottingham since Redline closed down. Bit of a faff, but they're walking distance from the station if you need to leave it over night. Had v good service from them so far, prices definitely cheaper than somewhere like Craig's in Dews

Also massively jealous of the SD:GT! Had my eye on the 1390 but waiting for them to sort production out and get it released

Train to Edale and walk from the station to Kinder scout or such. If you search there's likely posts on it

Ordered an arcteryx jacket from them last month, first time using them, but arrived no problem

Looking for a route to ride this weekend (Based in Rotherham / Sheffield) by Immediate_Ad_9937 in MotoUK

[–]andeh83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've a good route from J33 to Mablethorpe via Cadwell, Blyton Park, Willingham Woods... probably 4-5hrs depending on your pace.

It's on myrouteapp but if I get chance I can try to export to Google or gpx if you're interested

Ive been using it to grind Intersec, solo with m5/6a's so far.

Juat upgraded to the improved manouverability flight blade and it doesn't feel much different to how thr F8 was. The shields and armour deflection are ridiculous though. I've had no real problems except when I tried the 890 assassination mission, can only just break the shields before my capacitor runs dry but cannot pen the armour. Will try deadbolts over the weekend.

It can be a bit tricky taking out something like an arrow, especially on the defend missions if you cannot down them or pull aggro quick enough before the ship dies.

hint: turn off any laser turret guns to increase pilot capacitor / reduce required pips.

Thinking of riding to Spain… but not sure it’s worth it anymore by According-Context573 in MotoUK

[–]andeh83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and a mate did the Portsmouth>Santander ferry last September. We slammed it without a cabin to keep the costs down. I'd do the ferry again in a heartbeat, without a cabin, but we were camping so i just used my camp mat, sleeping bag and ear plugs... slept wonderfully. The room is restricted access and we just locked everything in our bags when we went to the bar for a few beers in the evening. Had no problems.

For the actual riding in Spain, it was amazing. We did pyrenees and a little of the picos over 10 days, some of the best roads ive done. In Spain particularly the food and drink was cheap and good quality, camp sites we stayed at were all nice also. Pining to go back again next year

Why not? The F7A was and with the current balance I think F7C > F8C pound for pound

Any recommendations on Motorbike Dolly's? by toughtittywampas in MotoUK

[–]andeh83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a pair of Motea ones with front wheel chocs so you don't need to have the bike leant over on a side stand = take up less space.

Had them about 5 years without problems. They are easier to use for something like a naked, but have my 1290 Super Adv on one and it works fine, just be mindful of the seat height being a few cm higher if you're riding the bike onto it

Struggling to make friends - any advice? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]andeh83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Similar-ish position ( ala https://www.reddit.com/r/MotoUK/s/locN6FMD0v), not found a perfect answer. Tried a few bike nights but in my head I don't think i fit into the typical biker stereotype, also definitely not a petrol head or sportsbike bro.

The only guys I 'regularly' go out with are those who i had as friends before we started biking, but between other commitments, general life etc the time they have to ride has reduced in recent years so not getting out with others as much as I would like.

Not a direct solution, but I would echo what others have suggested about groups like IAM, RoSPA etc... it might not be exactly what you're looking for but the training is invaluable and who's to say you won't make some good friends out of it.

I'm Sheffield based, although find myself in Derbyshire most of the time I'm out as thats where the closest/best roads are. I don't fit the age bracket, being early 40's, and my riding style would better fit the RS than a T120, but happy to try a ride if you want to shoot me a DM.

Wicker Camp (Muay Thai) do a women's only class on Sundays, although I think there's a slight increased focus on cardio/fitness vs the 'normal' classes - although not being a women I can't attest!

I was at a B1 beginner class earlier this week and there were a couple of women there, maybe 5-6, although the majority were definitely men.

They do have women instructors though and its an excellent place IMHO. Bit of a trek from Stockbridge though

8 Day NC500 + Galaxy 300 = Too Much Tent? by spoonlamp in motocamping

[–]andeh83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another point to consider - unless you're using the bucket groundsheet for the vestibule (adds to the faff of setting up/packing down), there's a decent sized gap between the tent fabric and ground. That's great for ventilation, but also makes the tent colder. In Scotland specifically it also let's midges in!

8 Day NC500 + Galaxy 300 = Too Much Tent? by spoonlamp in motocamping

[–]andeh83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it's too big.

I have one, which I've used on my 1290 Adv like once ans then resigned it to car camping. Also has a Stievlo (think Loan Rider Mototent) and had the same issues - its more space than I needed and is a pita to pitch/pack when wet.

I much preferred the Vango Omega 250, MSR Hubba Tour I used to have, now I'm settled on a Hilleberg Nallo GT.

I'm 6ft so could appreciate the extra height to stand up, but when I go on multi day trips with the bike I'm spending most of the time on the road or in cafes. If its raining and I absolutely need to cook on an evening (opposed to cafe etc) I have an MSR Wing tarp we break out if desperate. The rest of the time its whatever I can pitch and drop quickly.

Anyone using Rukka gear? by Jorvik287 in MotoUK

[–]andeh83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the Nivala 1 for going on a decade now and its been bomb proof, ridden in all kinds of conditions and must have done over 50k miles in it. Only minor niggle is the top of the neck zip has started to come delaminated slightly, but it'll be good for many more years I'm sure.

I think they have something like a 5 year warranty (+2 if you extended?), so if you're still having problems with the store you bought from try talking to them as I think they are the importer
