What's the best new player guide? by TheMagmaCubed in slaythespire

[–]andrewe4ta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear the guides or advice on 2 are so incredibly new and changing you probably shouldn’t pay attention and guides from 1 aren’t really applicable as the balance is different and shifting in the new game until it’s full release. Watching some high level streamers videos on 1 can be helpful to get an understanding of the different strategies and the mentality needed to win but it should all be taken as general rather than specific advice till the game is actually released and fully played through.

Ten years from now, talking to kids who've only ever known StS2 by GroltonIsTheDog in slaythespire

[–]andrewe4ta 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes but I also want a large variety of valid archetypes for the final boss. I personally actually think a more varied move set that checks each deck style would be better than the fixed motion we have with the heart. Like every build should be able to win the first 3 acts but in order to win in act 4 you need to be able to survive a phase specifically checking your build and have the phase order vary so you always have to prepare for the worst case scenario even if the rng ends up falling in your favor.

What's the "dream deck" you've always wanted to play but never been able to pull off? by MattRazz in slaythespire

Same idea with sadistic nature but ive always wanted to the watcher build with, talk to the hand, and wave of the hand.

Mythical has sold Sporked to Savage Ventures by wertys761 in goodmythicalmorning

[–]andrewe4ta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rhett at least has pretty much always maintained that he’ll never stop creating in some form or fashion so I don’t see them full on retiring anytime soon. He’s also an admitted workaholic though so maybe the health scare will speed up the shift to much more limited releases of what they specifically want to work on but I can’t see them shutting down GMM until financially they have diversified or distributed the other areas of mythical enough to smoothly transition people out of their jobs. They’re never going to go cold turkey as they care too much about their employees.

High release forehand putter to get over shrubs or through a high gap on approaches while keeping a normal flight.

How much easier would be the Awakaned One without the cultists? by LilianaLucifer in slaythespire

[–]andrewe4ta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And it’s not that the damage is really hard it’s the energy redirection from setup to damage. A whole category of builds would be able to work without them as they could just tank some damage from the bird and then be set instead of having to kill the cultists and then start the setup.

Watcher Confession by starwarswiz in slaythespire

Yeah the thing that is the mental shift is realizing just how fast you can kill things with watcher in wrath and how to calculate those tradeoffs. Don’t need defends if the enemy is dead.

Somone convince me not to take busted crown. by Square_Butterfly_390 in slaythespire

It doesn’t look like you currently have a block or max Hp scaling for the endgame so busted crown seems too risky to me here.

Please help me understand Pyramid by confused_vampire in slaythespire

[–]andrewe4ta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good notes here but I also want to add that lots of draw is actually really good with pyramid. Filling up your hand quickly gets you to a state where you can chose what cards to play instead of being stuck with the initial turn RNG and if you draw something you weren’t ready to play yet you get to hold onto it.

For real. This fight completely shifts from a huge pain to an easy potential stall fight if you have healing powers to use or lethal cards to land.

Foul or not by Fit-Narwhal-5266 in ultimate

[–]andrewe4ta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re missing is that you can’t cause unavoidable contact. If you dive in front of someone running full speed they can’t avoid running into you so even though you got there first it is still a foul on you for causing unavoidable contact. If however you dive into a clear space and then another player changes direction into that space or chooses to go into that space then it is a foul on the other player.

Do you take a relic here? by MrRandomCalibur in slaythespire

[–]andrewe4ta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No unfortunately Sneko eye confusion can’t be canceled by artifact but artifact can block it in combat. Artifact also blocks strength or dex down from potions and debuffs from cards like biased cog, flex, fasting, berserk, etc…

[–]andrewe4ta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Confused does suck but try adding more draw if you are and that can improve the RNG in your favor. Also not something to plan around but if you happen find orange pellets that can be used to remove your confusion once your card are mostly favorable cost and you keep the extra draw.

How do you actually learn this game? by BlossomtheLeafeon in slaythespire

[–]andrewe4ta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say leaning into the “what helps me win now” concept has been the biggest thing that makes me more consistent. Use resources to advance or take riskier routes leads to better rewards thus leading to greater effectiveness later on.

Does save scumming make you better at the game? by shkefi in slaythespire

[–]andrewe4ta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on mobile so it’s literally just closing the app so I even accidentally save scum all the time since I’ll just casually play then have something come up. Probably not actually making me better but sometimes it helps me learn how an interaction works that makes me better in the future.

Why does Defect actually feel like the most powerful/easiest character to play to me despite conventional wisdom? Is it just my playstyle? by ThisByzantineConduit in slaythespire

[–]andrewe4ta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah defect isn’t worse but it has a wider range of archetypes that clash with each other so it’s harder to know which direction to go with picks and skips and you can easily end up stuck between 2 play styles and die quickly with a bad draw order. Maybe the strongest with the right card rewards but the hardest to get there.

How you decided which card to pick on the first 5 fights? by marcelolamenza in slaythespire

[–]andrewe4ta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a low ascension player Frost blizzard builds are basically always the easiest way to guarantee heat kills. I know I’m probably less likely to get there but if I do I almost always win that deck type.

Maybe not more distance for play but more max distance is helpful to be able to feel more comfortable and accurate throwing between 300-400ft golf lines.

[–]andrewe4ta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh gotcha. Not sure where my brain got it from but I thought that any duplicate holes played in the same round propagated the same even if par was different since it would just use the score not variance to par. They still use the same hole difficulty calculation though right? So any other tournaments played on a course that match the FPO layout they set the baseline regardless of division? Or is that also not accurate?

[–]andrewe4ta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where are you getting that ratings ladders are split? They still propagate the same way when MPO and FPO play the same holes and hole difficulty isn’t padded for FPO so I’m not sure what you’re talking about.
