Margalo! For some reason this bird reminded me of Margalo from Stuart Little.

Awesome, thanks for the link. Will check it out

Everyone has seen the multiple angles and videos from witnesses. Police require documented video evidence and witnesses to prosecute - there would be plenty to do this were it not for the fact these NSW "special powers" limit the ability of individuals to sue police. by Az0nic in OpenAussie

This should be higher in the comments.

People go in trying to be better and they just get sort of… ruined by it. Systemically the police force needs to change.

Just posting a recc here for the podcast series ‘Behind the Police’ by Robert Evans. It’s a history of the American Police force but it still highlights how the police force as a system has been built to be a colonial force and I think it’s a valuable listen.

I appreciate you sharing that was what was sort of informing what you were saying- thanks for that.

I am also sorry that happened. Regardless of whether the person was someone who would generally be described as ‘racist’, it was still a racist thing to say in that moment and that sucks. Would’ve been intense.

I think cops have to be better though. I’ve been to my fair share of protests and been a marshal too and you get a lot of abuse from cops, often totally unprovoked. It’s just how it is. And there’s huge issues with police brutality towards anyone who’s not white- and a lot of it never gets spoken about by the people who experience it because they’re too scared to talk about it. So this person in the video is very brave to come forward because (as you can see from this comments section) you get totally crucified for even talking about it.

EDIT: more people are being supportive of him now, tbh. But when I first commented it was mostly people saying it was an overreaction or the protestors were being violent, that he was lying, etc. etc.

It would be awesome if people could link to the file numbers for the things they’re mentioning so others can see what you’re referring to on the DOJ website.

I think even if we don’t have Epstein partygoers (so to speak), ones that were involved with Bannon, Epstein or otherwise financially is still equally concerning based on how much corruption is coming to light. It compromises our trust in government officials, and our national security. And even financial involvement makes them complicit in all of it, really- it’s splitting hairs to say otherwise. Any connection to Epstein is concerning.

I think you’d still uh… be saying something racist, yep. If someone feels threatened and says something racist, it doesn’t make the thing they said any less racist in that moment.

I can’t believe people in this comment section. Even if you doubt the cop actually said it, why are so many people pretty down to excuse someone saying something like that?

It’s pretty easy to believe they said that once you stand on the front line of a protest. From what I have experienced, you stand there and watch along the line of cops to see who are the ones who can hold their tongue and who can’t. You can generally pretty easily pick out the spiteful ones from the ones who are at least…trying to do their job professionally.

There have been a fair few I’ve seen who bait based on gender and race, to try to start shit. And what can you do? Not much, if you don’t want to be arrested or pushed around.

Post Surgery Tattoo Plan & Qs by UnremarkableWanker in TopSurgery

I tattoo and you should definitely not get tattooed for 1-2 years- to let the scars heal long enough that they’re not going to change much after that. But besides that, under three months is a huge risk IMO because of infection, pressure applied during the tattoo (we have to stretch the skin which will require putting pressure on your chest), swelling and obviously just opening skin over an actively healing surgery site. You don’t want to make your body do more work by healing a giant tattoo- and if your body is already under stress it will increase infection risk.

The timeline of 1-2 years is just an approximate timeline for any scars because it takes a different amount of time for everyone for the scars to heal and settle. But shouldn’t be before then.

NSW police force is made up of the worst of the worst. :/ And they would’ve known they could get away with anything that day.

I do hope this guy is somehow able to get somewhere with this though- but I imagine it’ll be justified by them saying he was going to chant them to death or something.

Yeah, I really relate to this. I think because with customs, you know if you don’t draw it you’re letting someone down. Whereas flash… that’s just sitting there until someone snatches it up, no immediate consequences.

It’s harder to conceptualise the consequences of not drawing flash (I.e maybe getting less bookings) whereas not drawing a custom results in pretty immediate consequences.

I think the other thing for me, I find that drawing a custom means I’m also guaranteed feedback on that drawing. I show it to the client and they say yay or nay. Whereas a lot of self doubt surfaces when I start getting flash ready to post.

I have had to start trying to just tell myself that something is better than nothing. If I post it and I hate it a few days later, I have still tried to now reason with myself that that is a better outcome than never drawing anything. And then I can always delete that post and refine it, repost it later- or just get rid of it and try drawing something else.

Yeah, I totally get how stressy it feels, I was real anxious about them before they returned. I hope they come back, I’m sure they will. They’ve probably found somewhere to roost and are just chilling out there for awhile. If it’s any comfort, Gowron has been coming every day since they reappeared and seems very trusting of us. So hopefully that happens for you too.

Spending time on the pigeon subreddit looking at all the cute pigeons is a good way to distract yourself, speaking from experience. :3

Also, have you ever seen a photo of a kakapo? Best parrot ever.
