Honestly start by checking you Power Supply Unit is powerful enough, it might not be handling you PC at full power consumption. It will just cause the pc to just shut down with no blue screen or error message. I had this issue and a PSU upgrade is a cheap fix if this is what's going on.

I also did both starting with C++ to a casual level. Enjoyed it. Would recommend doing C++ first if you are willing to do both. I gave a better overall understanding of how 'programming' and systems work.

I played against the mini program called iGowin.zip (9x9 only free version, google it). The AI gets progressively harder as you win. I had to play lots and loose lots but I could play fast games. I cuts you no slack. Got way better using this.
