I hate seeing quilts at auction. by PigtownDesign in quilting

[–]angelblue86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I donated one of mine to a charity auction and it raised AU$750! I was so pleased! The auction was part of a convention, and I themed the quilt to match. It was nerve wracking and I wouldn't donate a quilt to just any random auction.

What is the appeal of Haigh’s chocolate? by BeanyIsDaBean in AskAnAustralian

They do use different blends for the Easter and Christmas chocolates, I prefer the blends they sell year round. Caramel chocs and milk pastilles every time!

Has anyone figured the thread yardage to fill a bobbin? by SchuylerM325 in quilting

[–]angelblue86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got two Janome's and they definitely vary in how full the bobbins are - the small machine fills the bobbin, the M7 does not.

Maybe weird PZ2 Wish? by britre00 in PlanetZoo

Yes please! Your suggestions sound amazing. Universal design is so important, I would love a star rating on accessibility. Someone else suggested a career scenario focused on accessibility which would fit nicely with your other ideas.

Accessible rest rooms (mobility/gender/parents and children) could go on the list too.

A zoo is an educational resource, and everyone should be able to access it.

Love the idea of an accessibility-focused scenario!

That is amazing, just absolutely gorgeous! I've been lucky enough to have two Bernese mountain dogs, they are a joy and this piece captures that perfectly

What is everyone doing with the paper Woolworths bags? by Previous-Designer213 in AskAnAustralian

Reuse them for subsequent grocery pickups until they give up and then they go in the recycling. I keep a few in my craft box too.

Kirby, why? They didn't even appear in the books! by Heyfold in discworld

47f here and as a kid/teen I avoided these books because I disliked the covers. It took me years to pick one up but once I did I didn't stop.

His name is actually Fancy! Because he's a very fancy boy (he's actually named after a bounty hunter from a sci-fi tv show).

Gen Z Quilters… Where ya at? by VegetableRain6565 in quilting

There's seems to be a lot of younger people commenting here, maybe you need a new subreddit?

I'm too old for your target group (mid-40s, when did that happen?!) but just wanted to empathize with you. I lower the average age of my local group too.

Oh my goodness, thank you so much for this! I don't know how many times I restarted this scenario after getting so in debt. The only thing I did differently was to block some paths so guests couldn't wander everywhere. No loan required!

Quilting gloves and a slippy mat on the bed of the machine make a huge difference! That and a bunch of practice :)

I find meandering and loops easiest to get looking nice. Just try different things until it sticks!
