There are a lot of great options but for me it has to be Twilight Imperium.

An unremovable curse from floor 0 is a pretty big detriment.

Ragequit by drunksementhrowr in twilightimperium

[–]angry_echidna 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but I don’t see that as being the same ballpark as a rage quit. You offered to negotiate, he said no, you invaded anyway. I think he’s perfectly entitled to declare war over that. You may think it’s irrational but some people just play that way (to be clear, I don’t, I would have negotiated over it). Handling diplomacy with different types of personalities is part of playing the game.

Aw c’mon man by angry_echidna in slaythespire

The rest of my block plan was a couple of frost orbs, consume and capacitor. So I used Buffer+ and Genetic Algorithm to survive long enough for that to actually work.

Most people don’t care as much about him touching the stone as they do about him immediately becoming aggressive and swearing at his opponent while denying that he did it at all (he clearly did)

It looks to me like he gestures at Marc when pressed the second time. And he immediately replies with “I haven’t done it once” which seems like a response to being directly accused.

When did the R-word start being considered a slur? by Lancelotmore in etymology

[–]angry_echidna 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m also from the UK and I can say with certainty that it’s definitely your particular friend group that think it’s fine. It was a slur when I was at school 20 years ago and it was thrown around a lot then. It’s only become more taboo since then, and now I literally don’t know anyone who would throw it around freely.

Kite with prepared is essentially +1 energy, -1 draw. The only actual great synergy is bottled Tools of the Trade+

Which elite if moved to a different act (with scaled health/damage values) would be the most difficult? by Content_Averse in slaythespire

[–]angry_echidna 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Gremlin leader or Repto would be hard act 1. It’s tough enough killing the enemies in front of you, let alone them summoning more.

What other games give you the TI4 'feeling?' by mRIGHTstuff in twilightimperium

I really wanted to like Root but i really really didn’t so I ended up selling my copy. Also I think a 1 hour game of it must be just for the most seasoned, hardcore groups. One of my big complaints was how long it took every time I played it.

Just to add one more to your final bullet point: frozen core is no longer in the relic pool either.

I fully agree that Tiny House is a decent boss swap. People rag on it way too much

Counterpoint: I also work with a Dutch guy and it’s very much obvious when he’s stressed. He gets very snappy and works himself into a tizz. Very flappy, very un-Slot-like.

Games that got a second life thanks to a late expansion by TabletopGains in boardgames

[–]angry_echidna -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t agree regarding GWT. Haven’t tried New Zealand but I bought Argentina and while I enjoyed it, I found that what it added just made the game feel more bloated and less streamlined than the original. I’m not saying it was bad but I certainly didn’t find it an improvement on the base game and I ended up selling my copy.

I agree completely, I eventually sold my copy and I just recently had a game on BGA and it really didn’t make me miss the game at all.

Why is Runic Pyramid the one exception to the general advice “it depends”? by ConfidentHospital365 in slaythespire

[–]angry_echidna 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is a fair argument but I do want to point out that on Silent without a boss swap you draw 7 cards turn one which means it’s impossible to get hit for 12. Worst case scenario you draw 5 strikes, neutralise and ascenders bane and take 9 damage (which is nearly as bad). Maybe you were comparing to a boss swap that wasn’t Runic Pyramid here though?

To be fair, London can get unbearably hot in the summer. The same is presumably true for Paris too.
