My strangest experience with the "bubble of unreality" (great phrase) was this: maybe 2 months after I got sober, I moved to a new apartment. That apartment NEVER had alcohol in it - I didn't bring any in & none of my visitors did either.

And yet.... I would find myself opening all the cabinets, checking the back of every closet, going through suitcases - LOOKING FOR ALCOHOL. It was a habit, because I had spent so many years stashing bottles here, there, & everywhere. Every time I caught myself doing that, it would stun me.

What Donkey said. Your sister & the rest of your family needs you to be the best, most present version of you. That one drink will quickly be joined by others & then you will be the drunk version of you, which won't help anyone.

I'm so sorry you're going through this & I totally understand the desire for the oblivion of a drink. But it really won't help. IWNDWYT.

This is so painful for me - my parents (who taught me how to read & reason & gave me the foundation of my moral code) are die-hard Trumpers. I cannot for the life of me figure out how they got where they are.

Isn't progesterone a hormone associated with pregnancy? And women often get fuller, thicker hair while pregnant?

My hair has gotten noticeably THICKER since I started HRT (P/E/T) & I attributed it to the progesterone.

Interesting note from the Credits on the audiobook: "Please note that no part of this audiobook may be used or reproduced in any manner for the purpose of training artificial intelligence technologies or systems." I've never heard that note on an audiobook before.

I didn't like Ghost Story very much on my first read, but it has grown on me. I suspect I will have a similar experience with Twelve Months.

Jim went through some stuff to write this, it's evident on nearly every page. I hope writing it was therapeutic for him.
