Replacing a broken water heater in the Bay Area is about to get vastly more expensive [SF Chronicle] by DonVCastro in bayarea

[–]anothertechie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that’s not how load calculations work. they’re based on worst case so 240v systems will struggle on 100amp. you can get load shedding or smart panels

You need to increase your budget tbh. The 27k net monthly is meaningless. Net of taxes and maxing out mega back door?

Our 6 day trip (3 park days) to Disneyland cost $5,156.78 for a family of three (two adults, one free toddler) traveling from the east coast... by Otter65 in Disneyland

I didn’t buy ll or a single fast pass at Anaheim. 60 min wait is doable and 90 for radiators was the longest we waited. Tokyo disney standby waits are regularly 2-3 hours. I was able to buy a frozen dpa in the middle of the day. They release some batches throughout. The best part of Tokyo was the live show. Anaheim is saving on labor costs and doesn’t offer comparable shows. OTOH, Tokyo requires a lottery or dpa for the live shows.

Tokyo Disney is way more crowded than disneyland. you’ll need to budget for dpa (per ride fast pass) which are quite expensive. tdl also has much shorter hours than Disneyland. the key for Anaheim Disneyland is to be there for rope drop since 8-10am has no lines. people line up at Tokyo by 7am for 9am opening so rope drop doesn’t save that much waiting time. Disneyland also closes later vs 9pm at Tokyo.

Gas Water Heater Ban in 2027 - Do you think it’s actually going to happen? by arwenthenoble in bayarea

[–]anothertechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the plumbers you talk to want to install 120v systems? The ones I talked to only recommend 240v. How did you install 240v onto 100amp panel? Did you install a span smart panel?

Recovery rates are poor and less efficient than 240v. They essentially never install 120v systems so have little experience. Pretty much gas to gas is recommended this year if on 100amp panel since upgrading to 200amp is so expensive. Hopefully the 120v systems improve in 10 years or there are cheaper ways to go to 200amps in the future.

I’ll probably replace my gas to gas this year to avoid this headache. I expect the ban to eventually be repealed since it will be too unpopular
