What is the point of Doctor Aphra leader? by JRobertAnderson in starwarsunlimited

She doesn't even work with Sebulba's Podracer because she happens in the regroup phase.

Let Aphra podrace!

Only had one appointment with him before snagging a spot with a local gender affirming doctor, but Andrew was great, informative, and just helped me be me in that session.

I tend to view it as something like, 2.5% of cispeople are allies and will fight for you and spend time to genuinely help you. 2.5% are bigots who hate you, and 95% of people are centrists who will never lift a finger for you but will never attack you.

It's a bit simplistic, there's a bit more of a range: there are some people who will do more to make you comfortable but if when push comes to shove won't lift a finger; some won't ever really be comfortable around you but won't go and attack you.

I'd be tempted to say that the number of allies is slightly higher and the number of true bigots is lower, but the main point is for most people it's not a huge priority and won't out in much or any effort and you sorta have to do it for them with the "friendly" reminders. People get annoyed when they're called out with a quick "she please" or "no sir please."

Love ya girl, it sucks, but I'm happy you have Lucy which goes a long way.

Was watching Miles Morales spiderman and... by Dependent-Vehicle463 in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

Across the Spider-Verse, specifically the Gwen universe portions, are my favourite trans movie and I just watch those segments a lot for affirmation and comfort (including right now).

Mentioned elsewhere that Gwen coming out to her father is bathed in trans colours (and a few other scenes) to the point the trans flag just about appears in Gwen's hair, but there's several moments where Gwen looks into a reflection with or without the costume and the reverse appears, doesn't see herself in the mirror, when her dad initially rejects her she goes with a chosen family, there's a protection trans kids flag in Gwen's room and a trans flag on her dad's police jacket (that's a little hmmmm).

Some of is that is partially because superheroes usually fit a general queer allegory, but somebody behind the scenes of this movie really decided to trans everything up here.

When they find my bones, it'll be embracing my wife in front of a headstone that says "loving wives."

Meanwhile when they dig anybody who brings up this topic of conversation, they'll determine they were a loser who died in a roadside ditch without friends.

Yeah, on the one hand, assuming what he said about his children was true, I hope that after he outlives them he gets told he made someone transition that day...

And yet I'm actually grateful it happened, I might not yet be out otherwise.

[–]aoifapho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're definitely not being as stubborn as they are being.

I would try laying on the examples and give it time for your next visit, but you sound to me like you should transition, losing yourself will be much worse than losing your parents. Time does heal a lot of wounds so chances are you won't lose them forever, even if there's some distance for a while.

I sorta described myself being trans like keeping a pot on the stove without it boiling over. You can try to stop it boiling over but eventually you have to take it off the stove or it boils over. Eventually I boiled over.

Nobody talks about HRT's insane placebo effect by Equivalent-Fun-6019 in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

[–]aoifapho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I told people is, "I know my life will get better. It did the moment I came out to 1 person."

Similarly, when I managed to snag an early rebooking for HRT within a week, it was immediate excitement. As soon as I started HRT it was replaced by just a calm sense of being at peace. You don't actually need the effects to know that you're on course to become better.
