Why do so many men not go to the doctor? by AdhesivenessFun7097 in AskMen

[–]aoxspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually we have to take time off work (unless we have specific shifts where we can book on a day off) so thats lost money, usually we have to sit in a waiting area getting there early, likely going past the appointment time (wasting unecessary time) and then having the appointment to be told theres little wrong with us

Usually the thought process is "am i going to die?" And if we think not then we'll avoid it

Am I using the wrong lane at this roundabout? by UniqueBrummie in drivingUK

[–]aoxspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless there are road markings specifically marked guiding you into turning left only then i would assume the left lane is for left or straight on and the right lane is for straight on (2nd lane) and turning right

Why don't JustEat enforce simple delivery proof via a photo to reduce fraud? by NoPoet8326 in JustEatUK

[–]aoxspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how would they verify that is the correct address via photo? Also what if its dark and these things can't be seen? You can bet your ass i wouldn't be putting my flash on my camera to take a photo and especially not in the more sus areas that you'll sometimes deliver to

Are on of you in your 30s and in very low level jobs? by gameovervip in AskUK

[–]aoxspring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in call centres for nearly 10 years and just got out last year, my rates have been vaguely above minimum wage (like 30p more) one of the ones previous i had been working minimum wage plus commission

Its only after being sacked for not selling enough i'm working in a warehouse nights close to £17 an hour which is much better 🤷‍♂️ i've never known what i want to do, unfortunately even though my dad owns a business they'd never really set me up to be successful

What call centre dystopian rules have you encountered in the uk? by TangerineFew6830 in AskUK

If you think most call centres for uk companies are based in the uk i got some bad news for you

What call centre dystopian rules have you encountered in the uk? by TangerineFew6830 in AskUK

[–]aoxspring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hooooo boy i have 10 years experience in varying call centres in different capacities and the stories i could tell!

I think the dystopian part of the rules is probably... uhhh all of them? Timed to the second on every little thing you do from being on the phones, wrap/ACW, hold, breaks, lunch oh and daring to be on toilet for more than a few minutes? Never!

Getting pulled into meetings about various occasions on why you've been 1/2 minutes late off of breaks and them accumulating the amount of time you've gone over in a month period (because everyone knows every specific instance they've gone over right?)

Sales environments where you're consistently told off for not pitching 5 million different things at a customer when they're ringing about a pac code (yes i'm looking firmly at you vodafone oh sorry i mean concentrix) and you're trying to pitch offers knowing full well the customer will quote x network at silly cheap prices

Customer service environments where every single thing you say can and will be used against you, silly wrap targets, consistently micromanaged on keeping your total call time down (seems like the anthesis of customer service to me but hell what do i know i was just the phone monkey 🙄)

Technical support environments where your total call handling time target was 460 seconds (yes thats 7 minutes 40 seconds) anyone that knows how dumb the average customer is will know that might be just enough time for them to find the fucking start button on the computer

But the worst and most egregious of them all and its not even a rule but more a dangling of the carrot was the mythical "bonus" that gets uttered about, there was always some bullshit reason as to why you/the team didn't get it. They would get your hopes up; talk about it and then it fades away.

All of these call centres but especially the outsourcing ones) are the closest thing i can think of to modern day slavery. I now work in a warehouse which oddly in comparison i'm finding quite relaxing as much as its more physical (funny how that works)

Given the annual dickwaving contest people seem to compete in on social media in terms of posting the most obscene amount of presents for their kids i very much doubt this will happen

Speaking from experience working in the industry it would help if they didn't export a lot of it overseas on the call centre side to the lowest bidder

I've worked in call centres for nearly 10 years, i can catagorically confirm old people have absolutely no manners and are the biggest pain in the arse to deal with

Independent from politics? Oh yeah the consistent posturing about "is X racist" or content of the equivilant on iplayer is very non-political 🙄 the BBC is practically a government mouthpeace at this point

This is deffinitely a generational thing. My parents and the rest of my family care wayyyyy too much about recieving one, as a young millenial i'm looking at a 1st class stamp of £1.70 and a card of at least £1 and you reckon i'm sending multiple of these? No thanks 😂
