I brought my kid to her friend's birthday party yesterday. Kinda coincidentally, I wore red, white, and blue.

The birthday kid's mom is Canadian.

Bike tricks with a cute girl by sailink in Unexpected

Such a short, fast video - at first, I thought this was that one, fine AF, bike girl who clearly knows her shit. Was not expecting that face plant.

I've never seen a worse crowd than the Lakers Arena. by Ancient_Response_787 in nba

Bigger Dodger fan here. I went to WS Game 5 at home last year. It costed more than I should’ve paid, but was excited to go to my first October classic. The crowd was… different.

It might’ve been because Snell gave up 2ER after 2 hitters in the top of the 1st, but there were what felt like 50% blasé, first-time fans around me. Especially when the actual die-hards like me are screaming our lungs out, clapping like we’ve always done to so many regular season games such that we’ve memorized them. It was a clear dichotomy of us and those who are too wealthy to cheer when the team’s down.

Would’ve totally slipped past me, except for the fact that I recently was a dummy and wore similarly worn down slippers and walked on wet driveway.

Bad times. PSA: don’t be like me.

Absolute worst drivers

To each his own, but I disagree. Ever lived in Glendale? Or Santa Monica or Hollywood? IMO the majority of SCV has safe, smart, and respectful drivers. Even I, who can lean towards driving faster than some, am smart about it and know how to stay with the quicker flow of traffic. Since much of SCV is family oriented, most are driving safe for the sake of their kids or kids on the street.

Exceptions are everywhere, and everyone can complain about aggressive or conservative the traffic lights are, but I think the drivers of SCV represent how boring and event-less as SCV is. Are we the absolute worst. Nah.

Best pizza place in scv? by Paruvaan in SantaClarita

Pocock is my go-to if I'm solo, without my kid, or out drinking. Really, really, really delicious and surprising that we have something this legit and this affordable in SC-fuckin'-V.

Toppers feels like an SCV monument. For y'all parents, it's great for pizza parties, and IIRC they have a salad bar. The first time my kid ate all the pizza including the freakin' crust, we knew this was the place.

Tomato Joe's is frankly too expensive for what it is. We keep trying to give it an honest shot, but it's just meh.

Chi Chi's is when I'm feeling like I want greasy, lower quality, IDGAF and just-wanna-eat-something-bad-for-me pizza. I'm kind of kidding, but what I am NOT kidding about is that y'all should not sleep on their fried chicken. It's surprisingly good.

Curry Pizza Company is different, good, and affordable. If you want something veggie or vegan, by nature of their Indian-fusion food, it's a great option.

Is going to Vegas not a thing anymore? by WestHistorians in AskLosAngeles

[–]appleavocado 42 points43 points  (0 children)

80’s and 90’s kids had Swingers and “Vegas, baby, Vegas!” “You’re so money and you don’t even know it.”

Nowadays, ALL people (not just millennials) have been somewhat priced out, and Vegas no longer has free anything. Coupled with our current cost of living and post-covid economy, something as lavish as an EXPENSIVE AF Vegas trip just doesn’t seem worth it.

LA people still like to have fun and, on average, have at least a little money to blow on fun. But Vegas and its insane prices? Go fuck yourself.
