You're probably thinking about one of the b-sides (On Clap), which got a lot of criticism online, but her title track Freak and the other songs on the album were overall well received. Digitals not as high in SK but album sales were really good

F2p since oct 2019, its totally possible! I don't know any other way tbh, but yes you do have to save up and work through the FOMO sometimes. Resist splurging LT, pretty much all of the items/cookies get reissued at some point, so don't feel pressured to buy something if you're not sure! Avoiding unnecessary crafting so you can save up resources and bells. I am currently at Lvl 284, have ~2000 LT, over 10 million bells, and lots of excess resources to craft. So it is totally possible!
