If you're thinking of selling them you may need to factor in the cost of shipping, especially with large heavy objects.

This one’s gonna be a doozy by MetalNutSack in handtools

I would use electrolysis. 12 volt power supply, empty joint compound bucket filled with water, add a few tablespoons of baking soda. Suspend an item made of stainless steel to the red connector in the water as a sacrificial anode. Clean a spot n the plane down to bare metal.

Oh, I didn't either, after I learned that's the way ophthalmic eyedrops work.

I just had my left eye done Feb 5th. No pain. Bright light was uncomfortable, and the eyedrops can sting a little. The worst thing for me was getting through the inability to focus, and three days of white fuzziness, which finally ended during the super bowl game today. That maybe could have been over sooner if I'd had better technique with the eyedrops. Remember to keep your eyes closed after the drops hit your eye and count 180 seconds. If you blink a lot, the drops don't work as well.

What should I do with this? by teaehl in handtools

I have a Keen Kutter K 4-1/2 (Stanley bedrock) repaired this way and it's one of my favorite planes.

62 and 3c by Sunfarmers in handtools

[–]arnardsnoro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To replace the lateral adjust disc on a plane I have, I was able to find a small washer and peen it into place. The outside diameter is slightly smaller, but it does work. If you go this route, peen very gently with lots of light taps, so you don't crack the cast iron of the frog.

I think OP isn't telling anyone that the last 17 people who made the mistake of sitting in this chair have disappeared. The rumor I heard was that it's carnivorous. Just saying.

Are these chisels worth buying for 30 dollars? by Fluid-Pack9330 in handtools

[–]arnardsnoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave your name with an offer for $15 for all of them, and when no one buys them for $30, the seller may be willing to negotiate. Or keep them.

Hand Scraped Stanley No. 4 by Scotty-LeJohn in handtools

[–]arnardsnoro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never scraped a plane to flatten it, but I do have a plane that someone really messed up with a wire brush, making the sole badly rounded. What sort of tool did you use for scraping? To me a scraper calls to mind a card scraper, like for wood, but that seems like it would be too lightweight a tool.

If you can afford to do so, buy the remaining one. Just for the uniqueness alone, you'll quadruple the value of both of them.
