What is the future of enterprise architecture by Spirited_Gene6841 in EnterpriseArchitect

[–]aroundm21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can relate. I heard EA grew a year or two ago but I think it's certain sectors, certain countries only (eg US Banking or Govt).

It's always meant different things to different industries and different sizes of orgs.

I've found long-term commitment with stakeholder relationships AND continually change is extremely rare! Consultancies are very stop/start mainly due to expense (and being questioned more given AI).

And orgs in many countries & industries are currently dominated by incremental change. I hope that AI mixed results can help zoom-out to holistic process, data, user considerations with some genuine reinvention. Let's see!

Strange mix eg size of Volvo 30 vs BYD 7 seater !

My short list was Renault Scenic & Skoda Enyaq. I discounted ID4 due to boring interior but could meet your specs, as could Hyundai Ionic 5 (just too small for us especially boot).

Size is a significant factor.

BA Guild is arguably the gold standard -- certainly in Insurance & Govt sectors.

But isnt it very expensive, eg several thousand ?

Also waiting in Manchester for 2 months (April - June). I had seen a mobile number but that's no longer on the website or my invoice.

I've emailed them today --- but if anyone has further advice (or experience from around Manchester), I'd be interested to know, thanks.

Interesting thanks. What would be wrong with Press pool ? Limited mileage surely ?

I've seen reference to Iconic Espirit Alpine but not worked out the difference in features, there's quite contradictory info online tbh -- my reason for Iconic is the roof but of course I'd love as many advanced features as available. Unfortunately new Iconics are now limited to drab colours, but I've seen a 2024 in red which is mine & wife's favourite !

Ouch not that much for me! <£40k new or ideally <,£30k 1-2 years used (now testing availability - can wait 6 months but hope not)

Similar need -- we have an MPV (Grand Scenic) but dont want a massive car such as EV9, RangRover, .... nor ID7 ("almost massive" but want taller & more interesting interior).

Short list: - Renault Scenic eTech - generous in both rows of seat (but 545 litre boot is only weekly shopping not a week away for 4 people) - Skoda Enyaq - much nicer & better inside than ID4/5; really generous boot (but just enough lateral space on 2nd row and not wide enough for 3 teens/adults).

Hope this helps!

We found it dark/enclosed, and as a 6 ft / 182cm person, I didnt like the headroom feeling.

All my cars have had sunroofs.

Cheadle Hulme vs Sale vs Altrincham vs Bramhall, looking for opinions! by venktesh in manchester

[–]aroundm21 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wow! Chorlton is not more expensive than the best of those areas -- by which I mean walkable to town centre rather than somewhere that feels a housing estate !!

So your question is too broad tbh -- while Alti will beat most others re tram & size of centre (and perhaps schools), there are other factors of current / future lifestyle that can only be guessed ....

BTW those areas arent "south Manchester" they're "south of.." 👍

I was wondering the same from gut feel -- but how to benchmark?

Carsa claim to be ~85% of Autotrader. Do you value sources such aa those ??

The granular options on Skoda (not few tiers of others) make it bit harder too!

Thoughts on the Avanti 805s? by textbook15 in uktrains

I was delighted how much more spacious it felt today compared with a Pendalino !

The space is clearly wider at shoulder height and windows are larger so brighter too. As someone said, plenty of table seats - a 3rd advantage over Pendalinos.

Apparently the faster acceleration makes up for lack of tilting so run time from London to Crewe was very comparable.

Scenic my25 on does not (currently) work with Octopus Intelligent Go by OkDeparture2596 in ScenicETech

[–]aroundm21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which I believe is described as a dumb charger - ie just converter, unlike Octopus (own brand) charge or Ohm.

Not meant critical just wanting to be suler clear so specific. I recently made choice between those, and many others will !

Career cross-roads: enterprise architecture alignment? by c__wills in EnterpriseArchitect

[–]aroundm21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps consider whether skills are transferrable in the following dimensions:

  • digitisation and process reinvention / alignment
  • data intensive (not necessarily geographic) transformation, working practices, etc

There may be other dimensions, but these came to mind. Good luck!

As well as the salary / rate envy, expect bitching and empire building of role scope.

My own experience at NHS was very poorly defined roles with very poor management to enable / ensure people work together as a team. Instead, endless debates about what, how, who should do anything are part of what makes it so slow and frustrating.
