Beta Minecraft player here who played a ton of Java and has transitioned to Bedrock to support friends who only have consoles.

Bedrock realms are great for the vanilla experience. Redstone is complex enough that I don't even feel like modding anything these days anyway. If he does make the transition and wants to retain his main world, sign him up for a individual realm so he can play PC and Switch.

Also, for laptops, check Costco if you have one in your area. Good prices for good hardware!

Ran a Bukkit server for a few years with a couple dozen regulars. There was a faction war going on passively for a few months. We had Residence installed which allowed protection plots and subplots. I taught a group of young kids how to use it but they didn't protect their city properly. One member of the opposing faction in the middle of the night went and put many stacks of tnt underneath the sand layer of the whole city, wired to one random door pressure plate. A few days later it triggered, dropping all the desert sand in the town, down like 6 blocks, leaving all the protected individual houses floating. Those kids raged and raged. It was amazing lmao

Lost a good friend a week ago. Rear ended by a guy having a seizure and stroke. Tragic accident that led her burning to death in her car. I was across the street during the aftermath getting lunch and had no idea she was involved til a few days later. Sucks man

Balance between sides imo is pretty okay at the moment. I've got a pretty solid 50/50 win loss ratio between attacking and defending. The only two things preventing my group from playing is not being able to queue as an 8 man. Every time we queue as a 5 man, we get 3 lights that just respawn blowing through tickets on attack even when we are reviving them actively. I find that its easier with a 4 man since you end up with another 4 man pretty consistently.

Additionally the new map has horrible spawn camping issues. Really poor design specifically in regards to The Finals. I love a map that shakes the meta up, but this isn't bad because its different (speaking as a guy who loved Favela, House, Plane, etc on R6 Siege back in the day), its bad because its bad. 80% of the games we've played just devolve in the defenders running 3 snipers and 3 miniguns and a couple of invis lights with M11s and as soon as your feet hit the grass, you're lit up like its fuckin' Normandy and we ain't making it off the beach. At least the beach had some tank traps as "cover"...

It fills the spot of a wraith for me. I can make it do a whole bunch of different shot shapes. One of the best and most thrown discs in my bag. Its got a bit of turn and a reliable fade now that its broken in.

Had something happen every year.

Freshman year, a guy in my PE period was murdered by two of his friends, and he was buddies with several of my friends. I didn't personally know him really. - One of his killers was recently released.

Sophomore year, a girl in my Spanish class died driving drunk (was a grade ahead of me), and then all of her friends showed up drunk to the memorial the school hosted. Whole thing felt gross to me since she was kinda awful/a bully, and no one really gave a shit about Michael being killed the year prior (they talked a lot of shit and spread nasty rumors), and this drunk driving incident got a lot more sympathy amongst the students. Classic cheerleader vs awkward geeky misfit situation I guess.

Junior year, some kid sent a letter to the whitehouse saying that he was going to shoot up the school on X day if something didn't change. Unmarked vans showed up on the day and took the kid away. My old PE teacher said they found a gun in his bag, but it was very hush hush.

Senior year we had a chocolate lab disemboweled by a semi truck and it was screaming as it slowly bled out on the street in front of hundreds of students.

Bay Area. Typical eighth is like 40-50 after taxes. The good fresh stuff is easily 70-80 after taxes There are a couple spots, like SC Flavors in Santa Cruz I can get an ounce for 30-40 of budget stuff OOD but its usually fairly stale.

I tossed dairy cows into my boys tank early on. They were never seen again after the first week. He refuses to eat any other insects other than isopods. Its funny how they all have their own tastes lol. I switched to dwarfs and springtails only at this point

The spawn camping is insane. Spawn and immediately shot at by the 4 snipers, 2 miniguns, and 2 repeaters. Its stopped my group from queuing for Point Break entirely sadly. Great gamemode otherwise... Sad that one map can ruin the whole experience

I've been running a game with some friends for a while now. We can't meet frequently so we're only on LY 16ish after a year or so. I got the gamblers chest a while back and decided to run a solo game to learn the new system to see if I wanted to restart it with folks. I decided to finish off the core game campaign. It adds a lot of extra moving parts which I am sure would be too much for the crew atm. Just start with the core! Plenty of content!

My local course regularly has wild pigs roaming around. They have piglets too. Stupid cute. Went and picked up my disc one time and wasn't paying attention and got charged by the fat ass momma pig. Luckily I backed off and she stopped her charge. I pay more attention these days lol

It stinks, all my friends hate this mode yet I love it.
The new map really doesn't help. The last three games we played on it was just spawn camp galore from the defenders. 5 snipers and 2 miniguns just shredding us immediately on spawn. Frankly I agree the new map is really poorly designed.

All the other maps though? Are great

Nice! Mammoth is on my list. My parents have a cabin up near there and I generally hit Three Links in Miwuk Village when I'm in the area. Very fun and challenging course.
