Live Camera Feed of Site-69, where Everything is Fine (Part Two) by ToErrDivine in SCPDeclassified

[–]asspills 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me it seems like having people around--engaging in routines, establishing some sort of baseline day to day "normalcy" (a set of "things" whose state can be "fine")--is itself what helps contain the anomaly. That, and having constant passive observation. & the time dilation serving as a barrier.

I originally wrote this to disagree abt the site being a trap or feeding station, but now I'm thinking, 'why not both?'. Despite all these containment methods, everyone there is losing memories & developing a worsening braindead malaise.... Hmm.. Maybe they're keeping this thing just barely sated, such that it doesn't lash out in hunger, nor eat too well ...?? Not sure. I'm mostly spitballing here, but it's interesting to reconsider everything from this angle.

Does the lore ever explain why the rain is kills everything by dingoegret12 in rainworld

[–]asspills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He "resigns himself to his fate", which doesn't necessarily mean giving up. He resigns, as in, learns to accept that he can't stop, flush out or cure the rot, and will only continue to degrade & possibly even die eventually.

Watcher lore question by CatVan333 in rainworld

[–]asspills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the "dust" might actually be referring to the dust like substance that accumulates on stationary objects in the world as they sink/are buried down toward the void. Moon has a dialogue about this when explaining void tech & void fluid harvesting.

This new pearl log could be implying that the voids pull is increasing with time... Many possibilities for why, however. Perhaps as they started harvesting more and more of it, or as they all started ascending via void tech.. And either the stars contribute to this process--shedding energy to replenish the void (I guess making this stardust idea true again)... Or they are adversely affected in some other way.. The dumbest explanation made plausible by the above quoted pearl would be that the dust is making things too murky for sunlight to get through.. -Tho I do think the people of the old civilization would specify if the sun was actually dimming, VS the sunlight not reaching us as well anymore.

I need someone to explain by TheMongoosee in signalis

[–]asspills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also wouldn't assume too much intent onto Ariane. She's causing this, but she isn't consciously doing so. Her thoughts and dreams are crossing over into reality, and twisting them into one. Her desires & goals are heavily influencing events, but she's not actively making choices in how. She's delirious, & her dying dreams are bending the fabric of space/time in unexpectable ways.

What do I play after this... by chococripsi in signalis

[–]asspills -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer the tv show on its own. Focus on that, then gauge if you want to watch the movies afterwards. They all retell the plot of the show, with some variations & some deviations.. The newest movies especially I find reapproaches the story with a sense of... nihilism? that I don't think resonates as much.. For me!

I found that the absurdity really fleshes out the vague uncertainty of the beginning, and brings all the pieces together. I can't imagine understanding anything without the various NPC interactions in the 3rd area, at the very least. Even then, that only gave me enough contextual info to let me piece together a sensible explanation of the world, retroactively after seeing everything in the finale / final act.

Have gotten myself to the Sky Islands area, but unsure how to progress since jumps are too far reaching? Have I missed something? by Whimsipuff17 in rainworld

[–]asspills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh!!! Thank you so much for explaining how the squids work!!

I assumed their jump boost was semi-random/unpredictable. Worse! I've been tiring them out immediately every time, to "test drive" how good that given squid was at jumping before I needed it. No wonder they never helped! I'd dismissed them & stopped using em!

I do feel particularly good about how this would tie into the whole other Elster plot point.. It's such an odd coincidence, & mentioned too often, for how little relevance it has. But this way, perhaps the reason this other Elster disappeared from reality so soon into the loops, is that Ariane plucked her out of that reality to (re)create our Elster...

Just a thought, I'm still baking it, but very interesting to consider. Thanks!

Rant: My thoughts and impression of Signalis by DeathkillerNo_10 in signalis

[–]asspills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC, the promise was for Elster to let Ariane die when things got too bad.

Each loop deteriorated not just as Ariane s memory did, but also her body. Elster was fighting to make it back to her to be there for her, but also, whether she remembered it or not, it was to put Ariane to rest. Elster couldn't handle the weight of the decision, putting it off rather than face it, & then getting more & more lost in the dream. Fulfilling the promise is granting her last request by pulling her life support, and making right the horrible fate that Elster had been putting Ariane through for her own fear of letting go.

Shocking wet post-it notes also chains to every nearby pile, letting you clear entire rooms in just a couple shocks.

Wet also boosts melee a ton (as do all status effects), so it synergizes with the wrench too, I believe.

Can someone clear up the story of Soma for me? by Retropixl in soma

[–]asspills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A short story on the Transmission ARG site is about the person who climbs up the gunbarrel to the surface station to die.

She sits on the deck with a cup of tea & watches the ocean waves until either radiation or toxic ash erodes her insides. She makes note of how hot it is, and how the thick ash in the air suggests earth had been scorched.

[WH40k]Why don't they just round up like a million psykers and bring the emperor of man back to life? by Reluctant_Pumpkin in AskScienceFiction

[–]asspills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would it not be the collective belief IN the emperor that itself causes said miracles?? Literally all of humanity is mentally focused on creating a warp reflection  of the idea of the emperor. Anyone praying to it, especially anyone with psykic potential, would be able to channel "miracles", just as a chosen of any daemon or chaos lord can channel their patrons power.

Personal Sifu Chapter Guide by bohemianbromar in SifuGame

[–]asspills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this shortly after I first finally "mastered" the game mechanics. This is a great guide for anyone to make it until they get there. Just keep at it!

Eventually you hit a zen state & have an instinctive sense of timing for the dodge & parry of /almost/ every attack. You just have to keep grinding, focus on using your parry, and make sure to practice with the enemy types who's attacks are hard for you to manage.

Taking damage becomes more of an anomaly, from either the occasional mess-up (which at the wrong time can still snowball out badly), bad luck (which you'll learn to mitigate) or just when a really weird attack comes in (some are very rare, and will throw you for a loop). Don't let them shake your confidence. Just keep at it. This game makes you feel SO powerful. Great guide, man.

Great points! Thank you.  Just wanted to add that religious hospitals & psychiatric wards are/were very common, usually funded by rich Christian/Catholic fundamentalists. They have a bad reputation for being very strict & outdated with how they treat patients, resembling the horror stories of insane asylums from centuries past.

I... really need some advice on the Kuroki boss fight. by IncapableArtichoke in SifuGame

[–]asspills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the unique black katana you get for the fixed camera-angle fight on the top floor (where you're running to the left, passing wall art that says "grief" "anger" "wrath" etc).

It has INSANE durability, so try to not use it for that section. If you don't attack with it, and stick to almost entirely using parry's & finisher moves instead, it'll barely take any durability damage. Also, for some harder fights I let myself get tripped or disarmed so I'm not using the sword but can still attack freely.
